12 Bar Assignment

Compose a 12 Bar Blues using one of the harmonic structures outlined below.

1. Choose a blues pattern below.2. Create a melody. The melody should be pentatonic either major or minor and should fit the

harmonic outline that you’ve chosen.3. Write lyrics to your melody.4. This should be composed on the grand staff. Melody in the treble and accompaniment in the

bass. Lyrics go between the treble and bass clef. 5. If you have time, keeping the harmonic structure of the blues pattern you’ve chosen, add a

more interesting rhythmic accompaniment. 6. This can be in any key – you are not limited to C.
