KENYA MINING FORUM UNVEILING MINING OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN THE ‘BIG FOUR’ AGENDA: KENYA NAVIGATING THE PACE!

KENYA MINING FORUM WELCOMES YOU!It is with great pleasure I welcome you, dear participants, to this year’s Kenya Mining Forum, KMF, the 2018 edition.

The third KMF Edition is organised by the Kenya Chamber of Mines, the body that represents the interests of investors in the mineral development value chain, in collaboration with Spintelligent Ltd, a company recognised internationally for organising similar world class mineral related events around the continent.

Being stakeholders in the mineral sector in one way or another, Kenya, our beloved country, intends to partner with you. As investors we can join forces to unlock and exploit the opportunities in the mineral sector and so to develop into a key support of Kenya’s economy.

Dear participants, this may be your first, second or third KMF that you attend. I wish to confirm to you that there is always something more to learn from this diverse and globally representative gathering. Such a mix of people from varying backgrounds does not present itself to you without much effort. That is why I wish to laud you for choosing to enrich such diversity. Without you, we truly could be missing the opportunity you offer us by being part of this forum. You will not be the same person by the time we close this Forum but more than ever you will be ready to exploit the opportunities that will be unlocked and identified here.

As you engage during these two days, I urge you to feel welcome, prepare your mind to learn and network. And most importantly, aim to place your upcoming investment priorities in Kenya.

As the Chief Executive of Kenya Chamber of Mines, I wholeheartedly welcome you to very fruitful engagements, active participation and memory taking networking.

Moses Njiru Njeru Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Chamber of Mines

AGENDA AT A GLANCE

WHY KENYA?

The mineral industry in Kenya has a marked connection with the ‘Big Four’ agenda, providing key raw materials for at least three of the four pillars.

Numerous industrial minerals are used as raw materials in manufacturing. Precious metals and gemstones are also used in manufacturing of jewellery for the local and export markets.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) considered more an act of philanthropy, and giving back to society. Kenya’s leaders have ensured the residents benefit with a clear ‘Community Development Agreement’ (CDA).

The nations upbeat tempo and progressive mindset is ready to embrace technology and innovations to leapfrog the entire mining value chain towards a modern mining player (ie. Upcoming Airborne Survey).
