Dear Friends,

Allow me to share some good news with you about

the life of our parish.

We asked for parishioners to assist us in

teaching the faith to about 1000 children in our

Faith Formation Program. Last week we had an

introductory meeting and….57 people responded!

Sr Lucy and I were amazed.

We announced that we were looking for

youngsters to assist us as servers at our weekend

masses. Fr Luis Gabriel was pleasantly surprised

when 17 young people attended the first meeting.

Finally, more than 25 of our parishioners

signed up to become Eucharistic Ministers and

Lectors in English and Spanish. This group of

people will begin serving next month and attend a

diocesan training in October.

The Holy Spirit is at work in our wonderful

parish of St Bartholomew: a communion of

cultures, a communion of saints.

Permítame compartir con usted algunas buenas noti-

cias sobre la vida de nuestra parroquia.

Pedimos a los feligreses que nos ayuden a en-

señar la fe a unos 1000 niños en nuestro Programa de

Formación en la Fe. La semana pasada tuvimos una re-

unión introductoria y... ¡respondieron 57 personas! La

hermana Lucy y yo estábamos asombrados.

Anunciamos que buscábamos jóvenes para que

nos ayuden como servidores en las misas de fin de

semana. El P. Luis Gabriel se sorprendió gratamente

cuando 17 jóvenes asistieron a la primera reunión.

Por último, más de 25 Nuestros feligreses se

inscribieron para convertirse en ministros y lectores de

la Eucaristía en inglés y español. Este grupo de

personas comenzará a servir el próximo mes y asistirá

a una capacitación diocesana en octubre.

El Espíritu Santo está obrando en nuestra

maravillosa parroquia de San Bartolomé: una

comunión de culturas, una comunión de santos.

ROSARY LUNCHEON: The Rosary Society generously donated $1500 to the parish at last week’s closing luncheon. The luncheon took place at Grandstand Restaurant and a wonderful time was had by all! The Rosary will resume their monthly meetings in the Fall.

MAJOR PARISH FUNDRAISER Help make our fundraiser a success! All the monies raised will go toward a new sound system for our church. The cost to upgrade our system is $60,000. We will begin selling the raffles (4 chances for $20) on Monday, July 15. You will have a chance to win: $5,000 or $3000 or $1000 in prizes! We will need everyone’s help to reach our goal. Group leaders will soon be distributing the books to their members. Books will also be available for purchase after the weekend masses.

On Thursday, July 4th we will celebrate our nations’ 243rd anniversary of Independence. We will offer one mass at 9 am in the chapel – with music. Following the mass on July 4th (weather permitting) we will have our annual food celebration in the rectory garden. Tickets are FREE but limited to only 40 people. Everyone who attends is expected to bring a dish of food to share. Tickets will be available after the 9 am mass on Wednesdays in Heafey Hall or call the rectory. No evening mass on July 4 & 5. The parish office will be closed on Thursday July 4 & Friday July 5.

gather every Tuesday at 6:30 pm in the chapel – Ithaca St. Please join us.

INDONESIAN MASS On the 4th Sunday of every month mass is celebrated

in Indonesian at 3 p.m. in the chapel Following the

mass there’s always a reception in Heafey Hall.

The next mass will be celebrated July 28 at 3 pm.

All are welcome to attend.

TAGALOG MASS

On the 3rd Sunday of every month mass is celebrated

in Tagalog for the Filipino community at 5 p.m.

in the chapel (Ithaca Street). The next mass

will be celebrated July 21.

NEED A LETTER FROM

YOUR CHURCH?

In order to give letters of recommendation,

letters attesting to character, sponsor

certificates, and other documents that may

have legal or religious purposes, it is

required that persons requesting those

documents be registered and be active

members of Saint Bartholomew Parish

at least three months prior to your

request. We can not provide any

of these documents to people not

registered in the parish.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION

There are two times every Saturday for

confessions in the main church: 4 pm and

6:30 pm. Also Thursday at 6:30pm in the

Chapel. We now have two priests assigned

during these times to make it convenient

and less time to wait. Please do your

part…. come as close as possible to these

confession times. Take advantage of this

wonderful opportunity of God’s

mercy and love.

Mass will be offered at 5 pm followed by a dinner celebration in the parish gym – Judge Street. Tickets are $50 per person and will be available for purchase on Monday, July 8. Space will be limited and tickets will sell quickly!

Last Saturday more than 150 people participated in the annual

mass in honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, patroness of Haiti.

The mass was bi lingual- English and French. Following the mass,

the celebration continued in Heafey Hall with a delicious lunch and
