Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning (Children and Young People) The Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning has arrived! In May 2010, Trinity College London and the Dance Training and Accreditation Partnership (DTAP) launched the first ever national diploma in dance teaching and learning. The Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning (Children and Young People) or DDTAL (CYP) is the first of its kind as it is the only dance qualification that: o Is designed specifically for practitioners working with children and young

people outside formal education o Has been developed at the request of the major national dance

organisations, led by YDE on behalf of DTAP o Provides evidence to employers, colleagues and parents/carers that a

dance practitioner has the expertise to teach children and young people o Provides relevant and accessible continuing professional development,

gained through independent study, professional guidance and/or taught coursesDDTAL (CYP) sits at Level 6 of the Qualification and Credit Framework which is the equivalent of a BA (Hons) Degree. It demonstrates that practitioners have the knowledge, experience, expertise and skill needed to teach dance to young people effectively and safely.
