Adult Faith Discussion
We meet on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 for informal discussions. We are reflecting on the Gospel of Matthew,
reviewing its background and themes. We are trying to develop different topics of interest for parishioners. If you are interested in exploring a topic, please let one of the Friars know, or contact the office. Please also let us know times
that are good for you to meet. Feel free to come to all or any that you can attend. Bibles (and coffee) are provided.
Join Our Parish Choir! We are currently preparing for our annual
Parish Christmas Concert, which will be held on
Saturday, December 14th.
Rehearsals Tuesday evenings, 7:00 pm Parish Office Music Room
For more information, please contact Andy Bauer,
Music Director, after any Mass or call the office at 963-4205.
Ordination Golden Anniversary – Parishioners Invited
On November 8, 1969, eight friars were ordained to the priesthood right here at Sacred Heart.
Four of them are well know to parishioners at Sacred Heart.
Of these, three, Fr. Paul Minchak (now deceased), Fr. John McHugh, and Fr. Jack Rathschmidt,
were from this parish.
The fourth, Fr. Bernard Maloney, served Sacred Heart for many years as both parochial vicar and pastor.
To celebrate his Golden Jubilee with the parish, Fr. John will preside
(and our children’s choir will sing) at the 11:30 a.m. Mass this Sunday, November 10th.
A reception with light refreshments will take place in the church hall immediately after the Mass,
courtesy of the Parish Council.
All parishioners are invited to attend.
(Fr. John and the other Jubilarians request no personal gifts.
Donations in honor of any one or all of them may be made to “The Province of St. Mary” instead.)
Please come and share in the joy of God’s good gifts!
All Souls - November Remembrance
We again have our remembrance corner with the All Souls envelopes and the Book of the Deceased. All those who were buried from Sacred Heart this past year have been added to the book. If you would like to enroll the names of your deceased loved ones into the book, please do so by writing their names on the available pages that are specified for this purpose. This Place of Remembrance will be a reminder for us to
pray for those who have recently died, and for those who grieve their loss.
2020 Mass Book
The Mass Book for
January 1 through June 30, 2020 opened this past Wednesday.
The Mass Book for
July 1 through December 31, 2020
will open on Wednesday , March 4.
The Bread & Wine And Sanctuary Lamp Memorials
will also open on these dates.
In order to give everyone an opportunity to request
their Masses and Memorials, we ask that you do not
request more than six Masses and that only one be a
Saturday Vigil or Sunday Mass during these six
month time periods. To put ourselves in line with
Archdiocesan guidelines, the stipend for all Masses
will be $15.00.
You may also request up to 6 Bread & Wine or
Sanctuary Lamps when the Book opens. The stipend for
a Memorial will also be $15.00. Your cooperation with
these stipulations will be appreciated.

From the Pastor’s Desk Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time: Encourage & Strengthen
“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting
encouragement and good hope through his grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good deed and
word.” With these words, St. Paul encourages the Thessalonian community to remain faithful and strong in their witness
to Christ. With these same words, Paul also encourages us to remain faithful and strong in our witness to Christ especially
in our good works. We are reminded that the Lord is faithful and that he will strengthen us and guard us from the evil one.
These are welcome words for us as we prepare to celebrate the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe and then
enter into a new liturgical year on December 1st.
Let us not grow impatient, weary, or doubtful. Let us continue to live our discipleship in word and action. Let us
find comfort and encouragement in God’s Word which is always a rich source of spiritual nourishment for us on our
journey of faith.
May we each take the role of St. Paul and offer encouragement and strength to one another! Is there anyone in our
lives who needs to hear a kind word, an apology, some support and encouragement; is there anyone who needs a word of
healing, an extra prayer, a compliment? Let us be like Christ for one another and let us remain, at all times, confident in
the Lord.
Please Join Us for our Mass of Hope and Healing All parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish are invited to join us this Wednesday evening, November 13th, at
7:30 PM for our Mass of Hope and Healing. Please see the enclosed flyer for more details. Perhaps you’ve experienced in
the past, or are experiencing in the present, one or more of those challenges that you might consider attending this special
Eucharistic celebration.
Cash Appeal Continues I would like to offer my very special thanks and humble gratitude to all who participated in last weekend’s
Cash Appeal Collection, which totaled just over $14,600. Your generosity is most appreciated as always. I thank in
advance those who may have participated this weekend or who will participate in a future weekend. Your kindness to the
parish is so needed in order for us to continue to care for our aging buildings. I trust that God, who will never be outdone
in generosity, will bless and reward you for your goodness and your kindness to so many.
May Our Blessed Mother Continue Her Intercession For Us!
Many thanks to everyone who participated in venerating the statue of Our Lady of Fatima this past
Wednesday. Your devotion and reverence were so evident! I am grateful to all who invited others from different parishes
to join us and spend time before our Eucharistic Lord throughout the afternoon at Adoration. I know in my heart that
Almighty God will continue to bless our parish for the great faith that so many have shown in so many ways for so many
years. I pray that all the intercessions that you placed in the Petition Box, which will be brought back to the site of Our
Lady’s apparitions, will find favor with God and that He will answer them in ways that bring greater glory and honor to
His name and assist you on your journey to salvation.
More Thanks! Thank you to those parishioners who accepted and acted on one or more of the suggestions that I shared with
you in the October 26-27 Bulletin. Some of you have shared the positive results they experienced in their interactions. May
God be praised! I print them here again should you wish to review them and perhaps choose one or another to work on…
Please invite someone you know who has been away from the Church and particularly away from the Parish, to
come home to Church and invite them to attend Mass with you;
Consider leaving a parish bulletin with someone who does not attend Sacred Heart Church and point out the
Mass schedule to them;
Please pray the Rosary, or attend the Holy Hour, or commit to private, meditative prayer, asking God to
increase our parish;
Please pray for the elderly and the shut-ins of our community;
Please pray for the families who have recently baptized children, that they may remain active participants in the
life of our parish;
Please pray for the children and adults participating in our Religious Education Programs; Please pray for the young people of our parish, that they will commit themselves to the Lord as young disciples,
learning and living the Gospel values that nurture life and true happiness;
Please pray for your priests, that they may be encouraged by your words of support and friendship, that they may
have the patience that Jesus had with all those who sought him out.
