As part of the work that we are doing for Ofcom Consumer Switching we have to introduce mandatory RIDs for BT Wholesale Broadband products. The products impacted are IPstream, Wholesale Broadband Connect (WBC) and WBMC over IPstream Connect and WBC. The RID is a three-character alphabetic code which is used to identify the 'Gaining CP' (the party which has entered into a contractual agreement with the end user for provision of services). Ofcom own and distribute RID codes and are currently looking at whether the format of the RID needs to change. This will be dependent on the volume required across industry. What you need to doPlease email [email protected] ASAP with details of how many RIDs you think you will need including RIDs for any resellers who have a contractual agreement with the end user.

How to request RIDs
Ofcom are introducing a new online database system in mid-July which will significantly reduce the timescales for issuing RIDs. So they recommend that you request RIDs after this date. If you need to Request RIDs before mid-July please email [email protected] for an application form. Complete the form and return it to the same email address. Your request will be processed manually and it could take up to three weeks for the code to be returned.
