St Luke’s Ed showed us the site and the foreman spoke about the challenges and findings during the groundworks, nothing very exciting or controversial but fascinating never the less. Works due to complete in the summer of 2017. We left the building site and went to Alpha Grove Community centre, the current Sunday home to the St Luke’s church family where we enjoyed breakfast al fresco.Ed asked for our prayers as he and the leadership at St Luke’s prepare the congregation for moving into their new home in 2017, the transition from effectively a nomadic status to property owners will be significant. Not a lot of ‘business’ as such but a few key conversations: New Clergy We welcomed Rev Erin Clark recently deaconed and curate at St Matthews Bethnal Green. We welcomed Rev Ella Sharples who had been licensed at our previous meeting, to the chaplaincy at QMU. Pokemon Go Beki had caught one on the way to Chapter that morning! Various churches are considering how best to respond to this latest craze. QMU Chaplaincy Ella spoke of how she intends to use the summer to recover from the flood in her office just days after her licensing, and to get to know local churches, members of faculty and other stakeholders, do please contact Ella if you would like to connect with regard to the chaplaincy. Common Fund Most of the deanery have submitted their 2017 pledges and the good news is that across the deanery, our common fund commitment is ‘up’ next year. The Area finance group will review these offers next week and write to each parish. Thank you to everyone who has made their offers and raised them. St James by a whopping 50% Area Conference Bernadette and Chris talked us through the programme for the residential 27-28 September. Please do film ‘mini-good-news stories’ even just on your phone and send them in. Deanery News 1. Nothing of note to add.
