Next weekend (Nov 9-10) is the deadline to turn in your shoe b

not picked up your shoe boxes yet, you can pick them up todaof church in the Commons, Fellowship Hallway, or Courtyarcall Jody at 253-0954. If you have already done a box, wodoing one more? You still have a week to get it in! Bring yourto the BIG BOX in the Commons parking lot NEXT WEEKEN

Waiting time is not wasted time, according to the economy ofGod! For a year and a half, we have been praying and waitingfor the Lord to bring a new Associate Pastor of Discipleshipto us. After various interviews and much searching, we cantruly say with Isaiah 25:9, It will be said in that day, beholdthis is our God for Whom we have waited that He mightsave us. We believe that the hand of the Lord rests on ourchurch. So, it is with great joy that the Personnel Committeeand I announce that Rev. John David Edie will be presented

to our church in view of a call for this position on November 16 and 17.

After fruitful times of prayer, numerous insightful interviews by phone and inperson, and extensive checking of wonderful references, we are excited that

John David, his wife Rhonda, and their three children, hailing from Springeld,Missouri, will meet together with us on that weekend. You will notice that we arenow calling this position by a name that reects more of the entire ministry focusand not just that of education. He will give overall leadership to the age-groupministries, Bible & Life Groups, Home Groups, Mens and Womens Ministries,Missions, Evangelism, and Sports Outreach. Of course, this one man will notseek to accomplish all of this by himself, but will, through Gods wisdom andstrength, supervise the staff and lay directors who work in these areas, withparticular attention given to the Bible groups both on campus and off.

While I knew John David as a college student at Texas Tech, I have alsoknown his father for many years. He is a highly respected Associate Pastor ofEducation who has served in some of our strongest Southern Baptist churches.John David worked under his mentorship for 20 years in numerous capacities,as a pastor of missions, college, recreation, and other areas. Rhonda, hisprecious wife, is also heart-deep in the life and ministry of their church wherehe is currently the lead pastor. He planted this church several years ago inSpringeld, Missouri. However, his desire is not to preach weekly but to be ateam leader. You will love his winsome personality, sense his deep integrity, and

be inspired by his creative innovation. Though he is a young 44 years of age, hehas many years of experience and also has Bible and theological training fromvarious respected schools. He uniquely combines strong administrative giftswith equally strong relational skills.

Please join me as we continue praying now for Gods will in this call, for JohnDavid and Rhonda, and for Taylor (age 15), Catherine (age 14), and Austin (age12). They all know the Lord and desire to glorify Him as they obey His will and
