Assembly on scaffolds Injuries caused by falling
Injuries caused by slipping, stumbling, misstep, bending
Injuries caused by falling objects
Accidents caused by crash/fall of scaffold
As above and additional risks
Use scaffold only after approval by manufactuer of scaffolding
Prior of use check if there are any obvious defects on the scaffold
Usef the scaffold only after defects have been eliminated. If thecovering of the scaffold > 2 m above floor a lateral protectionconsisting of side piece, intermediate pieceand rim support must beprovided.
If distance between civil structure and inner part of thescaffold > 0,3 mm a lateral protection consisting of 3parts at the inner section must be provided
Each level of the scaffold that is used must be
completely covered and easy access (stairs, innerpassage of ladder) must be ensured
If material is stored on the support of the scaffold a free passage of atleast 20 cm must be ensured
Do not jump on the covering/supports of the scaffold Keep accesshatches on the scaffold closed orsecured.
Store tools and working equipment in a safe way
Wear safety helmet and safety shoes
Do not remove anchors and components of the scaffold
Avoid overloading of the scaffold by components and tools

Lifting and carrying of
heavy loads
Affection of the spinal column caused by lifting and carrying
heavy loads
Injuries to the feet caused by falling of heavy parts
As above and additional risks
If possible, use transport facilities and lifting devices
Ergonomic working area
Instruct your personnel how to lift and carry loads in an easy way
Wear safety shoes

Assembly on step ladderand simple ladder
Accidents caused by falling off ladders
As above and additional risks
Only use undamaged ladders
Remove damaged ladders
Regular check for defects
Ensure stability of the ladder (for example by enlarging the supports, tie up of the ladder head)
Secure ladders in the operating area by means of a barrier
Use simple ladders only for works not requiring more than 2 hours
Place simple ladders only at safe supporting points
Simple ladders should protrude the outlet at least 1 m Do not usestep ladders in the same way as simple ladders
Ensure efficient spread security for step ladders
Place step ladders in a stable way and secure against sinking
No change-over or surpassing to other levels
Do not use the last three steps of the step ladder

Equipment for winching,
lifting and tensioningdevices
Accidents caused by falling loads
As above and additional risks
Only use tested equipment
Observe the carrying capacity of the lifting device
Only use correct sling gears
Do not fix loads by twisting with the lifting rope or lifting chain
Take safe position when operating the machine
Wear safety shoes
Training of personnel

Transport with crane Accidents caused by falling loads
Injuries caused by squeezing the body between the load andother objects
Observe carrying capacity of crane
Only use correct sling gears, check regularly, keep test certificate (forexample test badge)
Have crane checked once a year , keep test certificate; removedefects
Operation only by trained and skilled persons older than 18 years
Wear safety shoes
Take safe position when operating the crane
