A 1973 graduate of North Callaway High School, Rick Brown attended the University of Missouri – Columbia where he graduated cum laude in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He is a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He went on to Austin, TX where he was a founder of Cooperative Computing, Inc., a startup from UMC Engineering School. He served as Vice President of Sales & Operations until 1994, helping grow the business to $50MM annually.

Although he left central Missouri when he was 21, he always loves coming back and re-connecting with family, friends and his past. “While growing up in Auxvasse, I always dreamed of having my own business, traveling the world and seeing exotic places. I am doing that now. Yet each time I return to Missouri, I appreciate the simplicity and stability of the life style there,” Rick says. “When Mike contacted me with this honor, I have to say that I was pleased.”

Today, he is Founder and CEO of Rock Solid Technologies, Inc., (www.rocksolid.com) a cloud-based software products provider for public and private sector organizations in the Caribbean, United States and Latin America. The company is based in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Austin, Texas. With over 100 employees, Rock Solid is the largest Microsoft partner in the Caribbean. In competition with over 3,000 companies around the globe, Rock Solid has earned notable recognition:

Rock Solid is a platinum level supporter of the University of Puerto Rico where it has sponsored over 50 scholarships for engineering and finance students over the last 10 years.It is also a sponsor of Yo Limpio Puerto Rico – an ecological awareness organization.

Rick serves on the University of Puerto Rico Board of Trustees and is a founding member of the Royal Isabela Club golf course near his home in San Juan.

His mother, the late Cynthia Ann Brown, and grandparents, the late Eddie and Marie Wood, were all from Auxvasse. He has two brothers. Craig lives in St. Louis and Bobby resides in Austin, Texas. Rick’s sister Cindy and her husband, Mike Love, still live in the Auxvasse area.

Rick now lives in Puerto Rico. His daughter Lindsey, a 2007 graduate of Vanderbilt, is an attorney with White & Case in Washington, DC. His son David, a 2010 graduate of Vanderbilt, is a Business Analyst with Rock Solid Technologies, Inc.
