Stress according to Patanjali
Maharsi Patanjali uses the term klesa which aptly describes stress. In his text ‘Yoga Sutras’ (Yoga aphorisms) the klesas have been described thus:
Avidya, asmita, raga, dwesha, abhiniveshaha, pancha klesa (P.Y.S : 2.3)
The lack of awareness of Reality, the sense of egoism or ‘I-am-ness’, attractions and repulsions towards objects and the strong desire for life are the great afflictions or cause of all miseries in life.
Maharshi Patanjali

Stress according to Bhagavad Gita
The whole process of origin of stress, its development, aggravation, and repercussions are narrated in a dramatic manner:
Dhyayato visayanpunsa sangastheshuupajayate, Sangat sanjayate kama, kamat krodho abhijayate (Gita : 2.62) Thinking of objects, attachment to them is formed in a person, from attachment longing, and from longing anger grows.
Krodhadbhavati sammohaha sammohatsmrithivibhrama.Smrhitibhransadbuddhinshaha buddhinasatpranashayati. (Gita : 2.62) From anger comes delusion, and from delusion loss of memory. From loss of memory comes the ruin of discrimination, and from the ruin of discrimination he perishes.
Bhagavad GitaABILITY TO MAINTAIN INNER PEACE – AT ALL TIMESCALMNESS IN ACTION IS THE SECRET
There are two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as though everything is a miracle.
