Deployment of the Portable System on the basis of Protected Laptop

The software and hardware complex represents a mobile working place designed to support the work of radiation safety experts on site of emergencies. It comprises:

• Dose rate sensor to run field radiation measurements; • System to define geographical coordinates (GPS-receiver););• Databases on normative documents in the radiation safety area; • Databases on facilities, personnel and equipment of emergency-rescue teams (ERT);• Bank of electronic maps; • Computer systems to forecast a radiation situation development;• A set of communication links to accept and transfer the data.

The main tasks to be accomplished using the portable system

1. Informational support of the works on mitigation of radiation accident consequences, including:

Cartographic information: electronic maps of different scales, industrial site layouts of major radiation hazardous facilities of Rosatom

Data on radiation and nuclear hazardous facilities and their neighborhood (description of the facilities, main sources of hazard, characteristics of locality)

Data on inhabited locality in the vicinity of radiation hazardous facilities Database on equipment and personnel of the Emergency Rescue Teams Reference system on normative documents in the field of radiation safety

The main tasks to be accomplished using the portable system

2. Express forecast of radiation conditions in the area of accident accompanied by atmospheric radionuclide releases;

3. Provision of on-line communication and data transfer. 4. Measurements of dose rate at a site (including on-line

mode), first of all to control and correct the forecasts; 5. Express preparation of necessary working and

reference documents, forecasts and recommendations, and their express transfer to higher level organizations.

Transportation of the Main Workstation of Portable System

Using a Transport Container

Real-time testing of the units of the prototype mobile complex was performed during the Roenergoatom’s exercises at Smolensk NPP in 2003 and at Beloyarsk NPP in 2004. The complex demonstrated reliable operation in different conditions including proper functioning in the truck during movement via a country road.

This Project is aimed at development and implementation of the portable system for analysis and forecast of radiation conditions to enhance the capabilities of Regional Emergency Rescue Teams of

Rosatom

In the framework of the present project two

software/hardware systems shall be developed for Emergency Rescue Teams

One of the complexes is to be designed for an

Emergency Rescue Team of one of the FSUE “SevRAO” branches related to nuclear submarine

decommissioning in the North-West Region of Russia
