    September 6, 2013

    Dear Vice Mayor Gee,

Since establishing the first pair of sister cities in September 1979, Wuhan have forged sister and friendly exchange relationships with 37 cities in 24 countries. For more than three decades, these relations have nourished Wuhan. Linked by peace, friendship, understanding, and cooperation, the "bridge" between these cities and people has been promoting active and friendly mutual understanding and development.

Situated in Central China, Wuhan is a nationally well-known historical and cultural city, as well as a national industrial, science & education base and integrated traffic hub. For’ future, Wuhan aims to become the heart of nation and an international metropolis. It has been focusing on building a national innovation center, a national advanced manufacturing center and a national business logistics center. It has been committed to build Wuhan into city of happiness along the Yangzi River.

As decision makers of urban Planning and construction management, we share the same goal and vision: better city, better life - building an ecological city of happiness and let its residents enjoy the modern urban civilization. Realizing the goal of "build for people", people here will enjoy the beauty of city and the happiness of life.

To achieve this goal, we also face common challenges during pioneering sustainable development of cities. Thus, the People’s Municipal Government of Wuhan has proposed a series of activities in "Wuhan International Friendly City Summit" in Wuhan from November 20 to 22, 2013. Under the theme of "building an ecological city of happiness", the forum will invite decision makers of Wuhan’s sister cities and friendly exchange cities to Wuhan to discuss modern city planning, building and management from the perspective of decision makers. In a joint bid to build a city of happiness, they will share their concepts, experiences, and findings on coping with problems and challenges faced by urban development.

We sincereiy invite you to the forum to renew our friendship, forge partnerships &nd seek common development.

We look forward to your presence.
