The B.A.S. in Supervision andManagement, with a concentration in General Management, equips youwith the skills that employers desire. Accounting TechnologyA.S./A.A.S. degreeYou’ll learn the principles of organizingbusiness and financial records and writingfinancial reports plus using accountingsoftware programs such as QuickBooks,Peachtree and Excel. You’ll also takegeneral education courses (humanities,communications, mathematics, socialsciences and health) to acquire skillsthat all employers consider important.

Just some of the positions available toyou with an A.S. or A.A.S. in accountingtechnology are accounts receivable clerk,accounting specialist, payroll specialist, taxassistant or para-professional accountant.

Life, Health and VariableAnnuities AgentPSAV certificateThis 40-hour (five-week) course willprepare you to take the licensingexam to be a life insurance agent,which includes selling health andvariable annuities. You’ll learninsurance terminology and concepts,federal and state regulations and legalcontracts as well as communication,human relations and employabilityskills.

Property and CasualtyGeneral Lines AgentPSAV certificateThis 200-hour (14-week) course willprepare you to take the FloridaDepartment of Insurance exam to be licensed in Property andCasualty/General Lines. You’ll learnabout auto, fire and allied lines,general liability, homeowner’s, crimeand surety, worker’s compensation,inland and ocean marine, aviationand boiler machinery insurance.

Business AdministrationA.A. degreeIf your plan is to earn a bachelor’sdegree in Business Administration,you can begin at Palm Beach StateCollege with an A.A. degree. Hospitality and TourismManagementA.S./A.A.S. degreeThis degree program will prepareyou for a management position inthe hospitality industry or relatedfields. You’ll learn about food service,cooking and dining room management.You’ll also gain expertise in hotelmanagement, and the business activitiesyou’ll need to succeed: security andpersonnel management, accounting andcomputer applications, sales promotionand advertising. With your degree inHospitality and Tourism Management,you will be qualified for such positionsas hotel front desk manager, humanresources specialist, event planner,reservations manager, room supervisor,housekeeping supervisor, managertrainee for a hotel chain or assistantmanager of a restaurant.

PWith an A.S. paralegal degree from Palm Beach State College, you’llbe qualified for positions as a paralegal/legal assistant in publicand private law practices and corporate or government law-relatedactivities. You’ll be ready to take the National Association of LegalAssistants national exam to become a Certified Legal Assistant. You’lllearn legal concepts, court systems, tort law, business law, real estate law, immigration, estate law, bankruptcy and legal communications.You could specialize in a particular area of law such as real estate,litigation, criminal, probate, civil or tax law.

BrokerPSAV certificateThis 72-hour program will teach you aboutvaluing real property, finance, investment,listing and selling real property and specialtiessuch as zoning, environmental issues andproperty management and real estate closings.Students must have a real estate license totake this course. A successful passing score ofboth the course and state license exam isrequired to become a real estate broker.

Sales AssociatePSAV certificateThis 63-hour (4-10 weeks) program will teachyou the basic principles, practices and legalaspects of real estate sales to prepare you foremployment as a real estate sales associate orprovide supplemental education for thosepreviously employed in this occupation. Thecourse is required before you take the statelicensing exam to be a sales associate. Afteryou receive your sales associate license, you’llneed to take additional classes, which areoffered at Palm Beach State College.
