Round table 1 :State of the Water Ressources in Basin
Discuss the issues questionnaires
RESULTS: Problem statement for melian Basin
- Water management in the basin is very complex because of the multitude of stakeholders involved in water issues
- The rainfall in the Melian basin is low (450mm)
- Water supply is very dependent on the external importations of water
- Discharge of Untreated wastewater (from sabkhat Sijoumi) into the Melian basin is causing pollution into marine environment
- Groundwater is overexploited (150%), this situation lead to deterioration of the groundwater quality (salinity)
6
Round table 2 :Diagnostics of the water ressources
- Present the topological model of the melian basin - Make a critical review of the current model outputs

Round table 3: Alternative water management scenarios
Compare the performance of baseline scenario
Results
1.- water scenarios
- Reduce the water exploitation of the groundwater
- Create of a new treatment plant in the area, to exploit the treated water for irrigation
- Management of sabkhat sijoumi by ONAS
- The groundwater quantity by artificial recharge coming from surface water (15Mm3) that is not exploited now

2.- Values assigned to a set of performances indicators

CONCLUSION
-We constitute a steering committee with 7 stakeholders INRGREF, CRDA, DGRE, UTAP, DG ACTA, ANPE
- Meeting every 3 months
- Give us the data missed and issues questionnaires
-Work on economic evaluation, optimisation, water technology, water quality)
