Greengs to my fellow Lions Christmas has come and gone and we already two months into the new year. It was great to see you all again at our first dinner meeng of the year in February. Mike and Iris kept us entertained with a great dissertaon and slides of their recent trip to South Africa with a few of our fellow Lions. The Thursday pub night at the Cock and Bull Pub was well aended and the fellowship was enjoyed by all that were there. District 202L had their conference in Rotorua this past weekend - Lucie and Sam Armstrong; Iris and Mike Cousins; Owen Henderson; Peter Woodham and I aended. It was a great conference & the highlight was the internaonal woman president elect from Iceland, speaking to the conference aendees. Mike and Iris aended the conference dinner and dance - there are some very good Facebook pictures of them dressed appropriately to match the "Out of Africa" conference theme. I must say that Peter Woodham was not at all keen at geng up at 5:45 AM to get ready for our journey down to Rotorua, however with some coaxing he was du- fully waing outside his house when we picked him up at 6:30 AM. Ow- en spoke most of the way on our journey down south - there was silence from the back seat and I suspect Peter had only just fully awakened by the me we reached Rotorua!!! Anyway it was a great day & the confer- ence was enjoyed by all. We have just had our first board meeng of the year and we are moving into gear for the next six months of our Lions year. I will bring you up-to- date regarding our acvies at our next dinner meeng in two weeks me. Wishing you all the best for 2017. Brian has had a relapse and is not doing so well. Please keep Brian and Family in your thoughts and Prayers over the coming months

Norm has had a cold which has prevented him from attending Meetings, Hope that you are feeling better soon. Remember the Antique’s roadshow is on the horizon and it will not be the same without you.

It’s great to see David Dunstan at Dinner meetings. We continue to keep the family in our thoughts and Prayers.

Lions International More Members Means More Service Dear Lion, We surpassed the 1.4 million member mark at the end of October thanks to Lions like you. It's a great accomplishment, and I want to thank you for working to make your club and your community stronger. Reaching the 1.4 million mark early in the year puts us on a path to con-tinue membership growth into 2017 and beyond. It also puts us in posi-tion to be the largest we've ever been, allowing us to serve more people than ever before. The goal of our new strategic plan, LCI Forward, is to triple our service impact by serving 200 million people a year by 2021. More members means we can provide more service to those who need us most. Each member serves 70 people on average, so imagine how many more people we can help by inviting others to join us in service, and by keeping our current members as Lions. To keep this momentum going and to help reach our service goals, I am asking every member to think about someone they know who shares our desire to help people and then ask them to join us in service. Thank you again for helping us grow so we can serve even more people. Let's keep climbing new mountains together! Very truly yours, Chancellor Bob Corlew Your International President

Enhance Service Impact & Focus The number of people in need served by a Lions Club - the visually impaired, people with disabilities, people need-ing urgent assistance and often life-changing medical assistance - has increased sharply (by four-fold) since 2010-11, and is increasing every year.

Reshape Public Opinion & Improve Visibility The need for voluntary humanitarian service is higher than ever as a result, and we need to remind society of our im-pact, and what communities could be like without a Lions Club, and what people united in service can do to meet ris-ing needs and build communities of hope and resiliency.

Pursue Club, District & Organizational Excellence We are today the largest voluntary service organization in the world. Continuing to innovate in services to Lions clubs and districts, including further harnessing technology advances, will be essential to our second century of success and expanding our humanitarian service.

Improve Membership Value & Reach New Markets People have more choices today to serve and give back to their community/people in need. We need to continue promoting new ways for caring people to be involved in our service and provide options for service engagement which are flexible and mesh with today's busy lifestyles. We will continue to welcome people of all ages, genders, races and faiths into our movement.

Match the Questions and Answers and bring to the next tea meeting. Answers to the Questions can be found on the Lions Clubs International web Site as well as the New Zea-land Lions Web Site. http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/index.php http://www.lionsclubs.org.nz/

I don't know why no one ever thought to paste a label on the toilet-tissue spindle giving 1-2-3 directions for replacing the tissue on it. Then everyone in the house would know what Mama knows.

I don't necessarily agree with eve-rything I say.

Deep in thought creating this edi-

tion, My glasses frame broke this

morning and I now have to wear

my safety pair, Makes me feel like a

fruit fly. Anyway have to make the

most of a bad situation for a couple

of days until my frames are fixed,

so if I am scarce you will know why.

Ageing: eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it. Did you ever notice? The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are 'XL'. Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today, it's called golf. The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.
