The castle of Roquebrune-Cap Martin and their Medieval village

Not to be missed in the Roquebrune village: the wash-house,

the deux Frères (two brothers) Square, the Sainte Marguerite

Church, the forge republic, Montcollet Street, Captain Vincent

Square, the Millennial olive tree and, of course, the castle. The

views are breathtaking.

Mercantour National Park (1 hour from the Hotel****Alain Llorca)

The Mercantour National Park is one of the ten national parks of

France. It’s situated in the Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-

Provence department.

It’s mostly known for being one of the wildest parks in France, and

one of the most variegated for the landscapes, with remarkable

contrasts: its geographical situation brings some Mediterranean

touches on the Alpines Mountains.

It is here where the wolf came naturally back to France in 1992,

from Italy.

Gourdon is one of the most beautiful villages in France and it’s a

true Medieval Fortress; Gourdon overlooks over the green “Vallée

du Loup” (Wolf Valley)

Vallée des Merveilles (Valley of Wonders)

This site presents itself as a wide glacial circus, dominated by

Mount Bégo (2873 meters), with several lakes and big rocky

slabs, polished by the glaciers, on which carvings are found

Hiking: You must consider 2 hours and 30 minutes of walk, with

a 700 meters slope to reach the site entrance (refuge CAF des

Merveilles, beside Long Lake), then 2 hours and 30 minutes are

necessary to see the carvings.

From Nice, take the A8 highway until Vintimille, in Italy, and

then go through the “vallée de la Roya”, following the “Tende”

direction. At “Saint-Dalmas-de-Tende”, a village situated some

kilometers before “Tende”, take a route on your left to the

village of Casterino. After driving for 20 minutes, you will reach

the different starting points for hiking (2 hours away from

Nice). A first parking, at the place called the “Lac des Mesches”,

will be the starting point for the “Vallée des Merveilles”
