Bonn Beethovenhalle | New Year’s Concert 2012
In 1968 the conductor Heribert Beissel enriched the "Chur Cölnische Orchester"(nowadays called "Klassische Philharmonie Bonn"), which he founded in 1959when his idea of adding a chamber choir came to fruition.
Heribert Beissel's aim is to present an expanded selection of music for choir andorchestra. He focuses particularly on oratorios and his repertoire includes also acappella music from many different eras.
The Chur Cölnische Chor consists of dedicated women men and young peoplewho have had enormous choral experience and voice training. They therefore allperform to a high musical standard.
Every year the Chur Cölnische Chor performs three concerts in Bonn togetherwith the "Klassische Philharmonie Bonn" and there are 2 or 3 more concertswith an a cappella program. Further more the choir performs concerts in variousGerman towns. So in Halle/Saale (Saxony-Anhalt), where the Handel Festivaltakes place since 1922. This festival is an international music festivalconcentrating on the music of Georg Friedrich Handel in the composer'sbirthplace Halle/Saale and it grew into a center of Handel studies andperformance in Europe.

The ”Chur Cölnischer Chor Bonn” under it's conductor Heribert Beissel
has become a longstanding part of the Bonn concert programme
The New Year concert of the CCC in the “Beethovenhalle” in which Beethoven's9th Symphony is usually performed, has a long tradition in the city, which theaudience does not want to miss. There were some years in which instead ofBeethoven's 9th Symphonie, Orff's “Carmina Burana” was performed.
Every spring the choir, together with Heribert Beissel's "Klassische PhilharmonieBonn" and vocal soloists, create a more extensive musical performance such as
• G. B. Pergolesi | Stabat Mater
• J.S. Bach | Mass in B minor, St. John Passion, St. Mathew Passion
• G.F. Händel | Jephta, Belsazar, Saul
• G.Ph. Telemann | Brockes-Passion
• W.A. Mozart | Requiem, Vesperae solennes de Confessore, Mass in C
minor and various other masses
• F. Schubert | Mass in G major
• F. Mendelssohn | Elias, Paulus
• G. Rossini | Petite Messe Solennelle
• I. Strawinski | Psalmensinfonie
Every summer the CCC entertains the Bonn audience with a lively a cappellaconcert and moreover - since it turned the concerts into beneficial ones – thechoir also supportes social programs in the community.
In the summer concerts, the CCC offers a wide range of music from all periodsranging from Monteverdi up until John Lennon.
Whereas the summer concert is dedicated to worldly music, the autumn concertis directed towards versatile European spiritual music. This includes Bach cantatas, works of A. Bruckner, F. Mendelssohn, A. Dvorak,G. Verdi, E. Elgar, G. Fauré, R. Mauersberger, R.V. Williams, E. Whitacre.
Every year in December, the Bonn citizens look forward to the performance ofHandel's Messiah which in the passed years was sung in the original Englishversion and since then has become tradition and is enthusiastically received bythe audience.
