Semester - 6

Module volume: total number of hours - 120, of which, ECTS credits - 4.0.

Industrial medical practice is a discipline whose methods are aimed at maintaining the health

of teeth, organs and tissues of the oral cavity, restoring their anatomical shape and

physiological function, prevention of dental diseases by therapeutic methods. The study of

the discipline is carried out in the 3rd year of study in the VI semester.

During the practical classes the issues of etiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations of

odontopathology, methods of their treatment, as well as national and individual preventive

measures are covered.

The organization of the educational process is carried out according to the credit-transfer

system. The amount of student workload is described in ECTS - credits, which are credited to

students upon successful mastering of modules (credits).

The program of the discipline "Industrial medical practice" for the 3rd year of study is

structured on modules:

Module 1. Industrial medical practice for the prevention of dental diseases.

Module 2. Industrial medical practice in therapeutic dentistry.

The credit-transfer system of the educational process encourages students to study

systematically during the academic year.

Types of classes according to the curriculum are practical classes of students.

Practical classes according to the method of their organization and conduct are clinical, as

they provide:

• supervision of patients with periodontal diseases (and in their absence in the clinic -

analysis of clinical situational problems), history taking and dental examination;

• substantiation of the previous diagnosis;

• drawing up a plan for additional examination of the patient and interpretation of data

of laboratory and auxiliary research methods;

• conducting a differential diagnosis and substantiation of the clinical diagnosis;

• drawing up a treatment plan, treatment

Assimilation of the topic is controlled at each practical lesson for all students in accordance

with specific goals, assimilation of meaningful modules - in practical final classes. The

following means of diagnosing the level of preparation of students are used:

− oral questioning;

− written questioning;

− test control;

− solving situational problems;

− structured written works;

Page 3: 1. Course annotation

− structured control of practical skills and abilities according to the list of practical skills

for each lesson.

The final control of mastering the module is carried out after its completion. According to the

decision of the Academic Council of VNMU dated 27.09.2012, the discipline "Industrial

medical practice" after the 6th semester ends with a differential test.

The current success rate is calculated for the entire course of the discipline, the average score

is translated into points according to the "Scale of conversion of traditional grades into rating

points (120 points)"

The score for the differential test corresponds to the scale:

mark "5" - 80-71 points

mark "4" - 70-61 points

mark "3" - 60-50 points

The grade for the discipline consists of the sum of points for current performance and

differential credit. The obtained points correspond to a fixed scale of assessments according

to the "Instructions for assessment of exams and differential tests", adopted by the decision of

the Academic Council of VNMU from 27.09.2012.

2. Prerequisites and postrequisites of the discipline

mucosa and oral organs)

Page 4: 1. Course annotation

Postrequisite of medical practice for 3rd year students of the Faculty of Dentistry is provided

in the case when the student has acquired knowledge of basic clinical disciplines

(propaedeutics of therapeutic dentistry, therapeutic dentistry, propaedeutics of pediatric

therapeutic dentistry, prevention of dental diseases) practices. In turn, the practice forms the

basis for further study by students of disciplines - therapeutic dentistry, orthopedic dentistry

and surgical dentistry, which involves integration with them "vertically" and the formation of

skills to apply knowledge in further study and professional activities.

Course purpose: passing medical practice is the consolidation of practical skills within the

goals defined in the educational-professional training program in accordance with the second

(master's) level of higher education in the field of knowledge 22 - "Health", specialty 221 -

"Dentistry".
