April 1-4 2015 Kuban EXPOCENTRE hosted UMIDS, the 18th International exhibition for furniture, materials, components, fittings and equipment for furniture production and woodworking. Organizer of the UMIDS Exhibition: KrasnodarEXPO, part of the ITE Group.

This year, the number of exhibitors was 335, they came from 7 countries: Belarus, Germany, Denmark, Italy, China, the Czech Republic and Russia. The total area covered by the fair equaled 20,000 sq.m. 11,000 people visited the exhibition throughout the four days its doors were open. UMIDS is comprised of three sections: Woodworking, Furniture and Components.

The Woodworking section has given the professionals new products and a wide range of woodworking and furniture making equipment.

In the Furniture section, visitors could see new upholstered and cabinet furniture, household, office and hotel pieces. Also, the section allowed exploring the major trends in kitchen equipment.

"Expert approach to the choice of modern hotel furniture", a conference

On April 1, the business programme of UMIDS opened with a conference for hoteliers and hotel

furniture suppliers called "Expert approach to the choice of modern hotel furniture". The

conference was organized by the Krasnodar City Administration and KrasnodarEXPO.

Andrey Britchenko, Deputy Director of the department

of economic development, investments and foreign

affairs of the Krasnodar City Administration, started the

event with a welcoming speech. Petr Bobry, President

of the Association of Tourism Industry of the

Krasnodar Region (nonprofit partnership), showed a

presentation and told the audience about current

materials and technology applied to resort property

design and outfitting. Irina Kolayko, Director General of Kurort Consulting, training and

consulting center (autonomous nonprofit organization) gave her report called "Hotel business in

Krasnodar: dynamics, trends, statistics, forecasts. Hotel furniture imports substitution options."

Evgeny Bromberg, Director General of the Vector company (RedRoyal hotel), spoke about the

hotel rooms equipment trends. Olga Sergeyeva, Director General of the Inspired with Success

consulting company, business coach and author of

the "How to build a successful hotel business" course,

covered the dependence of the choice of furniture on

the level of the property and spoke about how a guest

sees the hotel furniture.

"10 effective tools for selling furniture

online", a seminar

On April 2 Blizko.ru organized a seminar called "10

effective tools for selling furniture online". The event attracted business owners, managers and

directors, as well as heads of sales, marketing and development. The attendees learned what a

selling website should look like, the principles of successful advertising, ways to develop an

effective campaign that will attract customers and much more.

"Automating furniture-making companies", a seminar

The "Automating furniture-making companies" seminar, organized by LesPromInform mahazine

(general info sponsor of the fair) and supported by KrasnodarEXPO, covered the production

optimization issues.

The discussion revolved around the main question: how an enterprise should function given the

current conditions. According to the experts, production automation is one of the most effective

ways to optimize the process and reduce costs today. The seminar also considered the

possibilities of imports substitution: reduced supply of solid wood furniture opens vacant niches

for domestic manufacturers.

The attendees have also discussed general issues of integrated furniture production:

technological components used in design, cutting and equipment operation, automation control,

financial analysis of the company.

"How to increase sales of furniture during a recession", a seminar

On April 2, Evgeny Danchev, a business coach, shared his views of the current sales

technology in the seminar called "How to increase sales of furniture during a recession." The

event attracted owners of the furniture companies, CCOs and CEOs, senior managers and

professionals interested in active promotion of products and growing wholesale and retail sales

of furniture. Attendees of the seminar learned about the techniques of creating a competitive

advantage on the furniture market when the consumer

activity is low, business processes analysis and the

most effective sales management strategies. The

event was organized by the "Furniture Sales

Technology Center."

Throughout the fair's duration, exhibitors organized

various workshops and presentations at their stands

and in the conference halls.
