Doyle was last before the court last month but the case was put back until September 2 to allow Gardaí complete their investigations. On that date Judge Donn- chadh O Buachalla warned Doyle that if he came before him again in the meantime, the defen- dant would be going to jail. This week, Doyle was brought before the court following two new alle- gations of causing a breach of the peace in Carrigduff and St. Mary’s Villas on July 6 and June 25 respectively. Doyle denied the charges, shouting in court that he was not in those areas on the dates mentioned. Gda. Mary O’Ryan said the defendant replied “not guilty” when he was charged and told the court that these fresh charges meant that Doyle had breached very strict bail conditions one of which included not going near Carrigduff. Gda. O’Ryan made an application to remand the defendant in custody. John O’Leary was assigned as solicitor for Doyle as his regular solici- tor John Mernagh was not in court. Garda Dan Whe- lan of Bunclody Garda sta- tion told the Judge that the behaviour seen in court was typical of what goes on in Bunclody. Doyle disrupted the court interrupting the Gar- daí giving evidence and at times walking out of the court shouting as he went. Finally three Gardaí had to restrain him and placed handcuffs on him. Doyle’s father was also in court and told the Judge that these recent charges came about because of allegations made against his son, which he claimed were untrue. Mr. O’Leary said his client says he is abiding by the strict bail conditions imposed at a previous sitting of the court. Gda. Whelan replied to the Judge by saying he would see Doyle in Carrig- duff almost every day. Peter Doyle was also assaulted in Bunclody last year after he pushed a woman claiming she had thrown eggs at his win- dow. He was very drunk and incapable of speaking. Gda. Burke brought Saroks back to Enniscorthy Garda Station where she searched him and found a blue penknife on his person. The court heard the 44- year-old had 35 previous convictions mostly for pub- lic-order offences. Catriona Walsh, solicitor for the defendant, said her client was currently not drinking and was attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
