owner’s opportunities to gather to-gether with family and friends,” saidMaria Stapperfenne, certified kitchendesigner, certified bath designer and2015 president of the National Kitchen& Bath Association. “However, just likeindoor kitchens, outdoor kitchens mustbe designed thoughtfully.”Ken Kelly, a certified kitchen designer
and principal at Kitchen Designs by KenKelly in Williston Park and Sag Habor,N.Y., said the first decision is to pick alocation and pay attention to the pre-vailing winds. “Wind direction andwhere the kitchen is located could cause
smoke to blow into guests or even intothe house through an open window,” hesaid. “Keep the grill downwind ofguests.”
Russ Faulk, vice president of designfor Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet, saidthe second decision has to do with grillplacement. “Do you want the cook toface the guests, or look at the scenery?”he asked.Faulk, who also teaches outdoor
