The Danish Gender Equality Law
Purpose
• To promote equality and equal value between men and
women:
- equal influence and opportunities in all social functions
• Applies to all state institutions and all private companies
providing goods and services under public procurement
Gender composition in public boards, commissions, etc.
• Should have equal composition of women and
men
• Proposals for members of boards, commissions,
etc. shall name an equal amount of both sexes

Periodic reporting on gender equality
• All state and local government institutions must
report bi-anually on gender equality including:
- If gender equality policy is adopted,
- The gender distribution for each category of work
- Any other issues which may influence the evaluation of the work of the institution on its gender equality policy
