Herbs usually have multiple health and beauty effects. As an example, gingko biloba is a proven memory supplement because it improves blood circulation in the brain. It also boosts microcircu-lation in the skin and is very effective, especially for rosacea.

5Water extraction can be done by simply brewing herbal tea. You can use it to make herbal compresses or blend the tea with powdered masks. 4

When using herbs for skin care … wild, organic grown herbs are the best. Why? Because when considering skin care prod-ucts clients want only the purest ingredients in their beauty and health formulations. 2

Herbal extracts contain nutrients that work synergistically.

Through the extraction process, herbs can be extracted into water, oil, vegetable glycerin or grain alcohol.

Herbs can assist in balancing hormones. Extracts from red clover, passionflower and wild yam help regulate hormonal imbalances and support the skin. 10

Many herbs reduce cellular oxidation and demonstrate anti-aging properties. Rose hips are a wonderful source of vitamin C and are loaded with many other nutrients helpful for collagen regeneration. Siberian ginseng has traditionally been known for its anti-aging effects.

Herbs can be used to help brighten the skin and reduce hyper-pigmentation. For instance, parsley and licorice are very good for sun-damaged skin. 6

Calendula, yarrow, chamomile and peppermint help to heal acne and calm inflamed skin. Burdock and dandelion root also have detoxifying and anti-inflammatory properties and are indispensable for problem complexions. 7 Some herbs can be used to help fight

viral and fungal infections on the skin. Most are familiar with tea tree oil, garlic and onion, but did you know that great-er celandine can help get rid of warts and skin tags? Just break the stem and you will discover an orange juice inside. Apply it to the problem area once a day.
