Deborah commented that completing the alumni newsletter was asignificant milestone for the Association and that feedback had been good

.so far Deborah then asked how the Association could better collectfeedback on future newsletters and suggested the possibility of an online

. ,survey After a brief discussion the Board agreed to table the survey item.until a future meeting

.Wes provided the treasurer s report The Association had an account$2171.60 32 .balance of with a current membership of alumni

Deborah stated that both Andrew Walmsley and Sunny Driver hadrequested to leave the Board of Directors because of other professional

. ( )obligations Deborah made a motion to nominate Pat Gostell Class II to .take Andrew s place Wes seconded the nomination and the motion

11 20Candy stated that the NRLI Team had received applications with .fellows as the usual goal for each class The project team had recently

.revised the NRLI course schedule to parallel the UF academic calendar /The Class IX application deadline was in late June early July with the first

13, 2009.session scheduled for Bradenton on August Candy mentioned that,Class IX class had a mix of applicants from the Sea Grant program the

, .water management districts and local governments The Board questioned.whether anyone from state agencies had applied Candy responded that

,as of the Board meeting the NRLI Team had not received any applications- .from state agencies probably because of the current budget situation

Deborah challenged those Board members working for state agencies to.try and recruit applicants

- .Stan updated the Board on the Florida Holland Connection InitiativeThe Initiative is a week long conference hosted by the State Department

. . .through the U S Embassy in Amsterdam Conference topics include water, , .resources climate change and urban development issues Stan stated that

the group was made up of mostly federal agencies but that a few state.agency representatives had registered Stan stated that there were still
