Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has its proud association with the developmental process of the country. The Institute was established in 1951 to boost the technological upliftment by generating manpower armed with advanced technology knowhow along with other engineering and science departments. Agricultural & Food Engineering Department was started in 1952 to propagate the technological breakthrough in agricultural and allied fields, while the Rural Development Centre since its inception in 1975 is engaged in dissemination of the technological innovations in the rural areas. These two departments of the Institute have been regularly organizing workshop, field days, expositions, Krishi Mela etc. for the farmers and rural dwellers to provide a unique platform to the farmers, entrepreneurs, industries, financial institutions, government, semi-government, private and voluntary organizations, NGOs and technical experts to exchange their views on technological development in Agricultural and Rural Sectors. This year the Agricultural & Food Engineering Department along with the Rural Development Centre is organizing a program on Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan program of GOI) during 08 to 10 January, 2016.

• Soil Testing. • Vermi-composting Technology & Organic

Farming. • Fabrication of Grain Puffing machine and

Modernized Hauler Milling Technology. • Food Processing and Preservation

Technology. • Operation, Maintenance and Repair of

Rural Tools & Machines. • Small Scale Machines for Processing of

Agricultural Products (Seed Oil Extraction, Pulse Dehusking, Spice and Grain Grinding, Tuber Starch Extraction).

• Leaf Plate Moulding, Rope and Thread Making, Improved Chulla Fabrication/Construction.

• Mushroom Farming Technology. • Production and Processing of Medicinal &

Aromatic Plants. • Fish Feed Formulation and Production

Technology. Besides, demonstration of machinery processes and food technologies developed by IIT Kharagpur, industries, research laboratories and other organizations, lectures and discussions on ‘Food Processing’, ‘Agricultural Techniques’ and ‘Inland Fishery Management’ etc. will be organized along with visits to Experimental Farms, Rural Energy Park and Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Park (STEP-IIT).

Rural Youth with Science/Arts/Commerce/ Agriculture background and a desire to become entrepreneur are eligible to participate in the program. Registration Fee: 1500/- Participants will be provided with boarding and lodging in the campus for the duration of the training. The participants sponsored by organizations involved in rural and agro-based industries will be registered by waiving requisite qualification.

The organizations contributing 10,00,000/- will be given the status of Platinum Sponsors, 5,00,000/- Gold Sponsors and 2,50,000/- Silver Sponsors. Agri-Expo’16

As a part of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan of Govt. of India, the Agricultural and Food Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, in collaboration with its Rural Development Centre, is going to organize ‘Agri-Expo’16 – Workshop on Technologies for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship’, from 08 to 10 January, 2016.

IIT Kharagpur is surrounded by villages and it has a commitment to improve the lives of the people around. By keeping this point in mind, progressive farmers & rural youths will be invited to attend the workshop. Activities would include Interactive sessions/Group discussions, Training programs on Operation & Maintenance of Farm machinery(production & post-harvest), Food processing technologies, Fish feed making, Green house technology, Vermicomposting & organic farming, Soil testing etc.. There will be Field demonstration of machinery & modern agriculture technologies, Vegetable & Flower show etc. Different Departments/Centres/Schools of IIT Kharagpur, Agriculture & allied Departments of Central & State Govt., Banks, District Industries Centre, Companies & NGOs working in the field of agriculture & rural development would show-case their products, service activities etc. to the visiting farmers & youths.

All are invited for active participation in Agri-Expo’16. The Consent Form may kindly be filled up and returned to us immediately.
