o The land releif of the city as a whole is

rather steep and characterized by deep

valleys.

o One of the city’s most notable feature is

its slope that divides the town in two –

Cidade Alta and Cidade Baixa. It is a 85

meters difference.

o The city’s soil is rich in loam.

o The combination of steep slopes and

this kind of soil makek landslides rather

common.

o Salvador features a tropical rainforest

climate with no discernable dry season.

Temperatures are relatively constant

throughout the course of the year,

featuring warm and humid conditions.

o Largo Dois de Julho is a public space

located in the city of Salvador, Brazil. It is

located in its old town and it is known for its

fair. It is very well localized.

Mansions in Brazilian Neocolonial

style (circa 1910) located in the

neighborhood.

Many of them are found in this state of disrepair.

former New York Central Railroad spur

called the West Side Line, which runs

along the lower west side of Manhattan.

The project devises a unique means of

support, which frees itself from the

constraints linked to the many

functional elements that emerge here

and there, by covering them.

Only one inert material, Cor-ten steel,

has been chosen for manipulation. Laid

out in successive strips, this red steel

floor is folded or distorted according to

the topography and the structures that

need to be enclosed.

Even though the city itself is know for being

rather steep, there are flat surfaces in which

activities can be devoloped.

order to make better use of the

narrow shape of the plaza, and to

point where people should circulate.
