Good evening ladies and gentlemen,It is a great honor to be here with such an honorable audience, in this wonderful place.I want to talk to you about an innovative project that helps persons with quadriplegia achieve their full potential. We participated with this project in Imagine Cup 2011 and won third place, I will tell you about Imagine Cup in a momentI hope you enjoy the rest of the presentation.

0.5 minute*Today Im representing team oasys and presenting Horizon as a solution to empower quadriplegicsMy name is Hani AbuHuwaij, and the rest of the team consists of Monir AbuHilal, Mohammad Azzam, Yousef Wadi and our Mentor Mohammad SalehWe are computer students from jordan, who worked together on helping solve one of the worlds toughest problems

1 minute*As I said, we won third place in the worldwide finals of this years Imagine Cup.The imagine Cup aims is to help solve the worlds toughest problems using technology, and these problems are actually the United Nations Millennium Development goals, which are the worlds most important and widespread problemsIt also continues on the work that has been done in the field of accessibility done by Microsoft and Microsoft AccessibilityThis is the biggest software competition for students. This year alone over 350,000 total students participated, and over 400 of them reached the worldwide finals, representing 70 countries. It was a great sign of the value of the project to actually win third place, beating some fabulous solutions that aim to solve the Millennium goals

1 minute*Lots of people suffer from physical limitations, such as people with quadriplegia, or people unable to move their armsNowadays, computers have invaded our life to become a necessity. Quadriplegics can not benefit from computers, which stops them from achieving their full potential, invades their privacy, and stops them from fully interacting with the worldThis problem affects a huge number.. Current figures reach 4.7 million patients, with an exponential growth

1 minute*Horizon is a solution to empower quadriplegics, and aims to give them their life to its fullest, to reach the full potential they are capable ofHorizon achieves this goal by tracking head movements, patients can control the computer with minimum available movement they can do, to type, draw, connect with people full control, as a person with no problems, in an efficient affordable solutionThe project depends on using a Wiimote, IR led to track head movementsUsing our software stack, this translates to computer control to perform all the desired actionsAnother problem, is that there are not much applications or implementations that aim to help such cases, so by providing an application store, developers and clients can contribute and share their contributions to the rest of them, and benefit in the processAlso, theres a communication stack that communicates with any phone over bluetooth to make phone calls, and send messages and other operations as well operations that seemed so difficult to achieve in the pastThe solution uses available components, and does not need expensive computers to work. Processing is done on the Wiimote, and any computer; new or old, expensive or cheap, can do the job very wellIt is also easy to build, we noticed this first hand when we actually lost the hardware in a cab few days before going to new york, so we simply went and bought the components we need which are easily available, and the project was alive again. True story.

3 minutes*2 minutes*The right part of the image shows current solutions, the below one shows a cheap stick to perform clicks cheap, but not friendly at allThe above one shows an example of advanced solutions, using image processing, or other hardware expensive, because of manufacturing cost, or hardware dependenciesWhat we were trying to achieve is a solution as cheap as a mouse, as friendly as a mouse, and as available as a mouse. Other products do not supply even quarter of the demand, nor are they as affordable.

1 minute*These are the different packages that we will offer in the market in the near futureThe lite package is an affordable package that provides the basic componentsThe premium package consists of the lite package, and other accessories to make it easy for clients to use the deviceThe developer packages is to let communities chip in as well. We provide them with the software, and how to build everything, and they can start making their own packages in different countries, to reach patients all over the world

1 minute*2 minutes*Our Goal as OaSys can simply be put this way: we want to help everyone to enable their full potential. With this project, and probably more projects in the future, along with contributions of communities and students, we can achieve that, and I hope we see this goal achieved one day.We are still building on what we have so far, and implementing feedback we are getting from testing the project. We also want to develop more applications to make life for clients even easier.

0.5 minute*On behalf of team oasys, I would like to thank you all for listening, and I wish you all a great evening.*
