F ROM THE P ASTOR : Jesus Leading in the Dance

"...we preach Christ crucified... Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God... It

is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption." 1 Corinthians 1:23-24, 30

God is not impressed with what we can do for Him. He is interested in what Christ

does through us. "Dream big dreams for God." "Do great things for the Kingdom." These sentiments found in many Christian books and seminars are chips off of the

ancient bricks of the Tower of Babel--man's futile and puny attempts to reach God.

The Good News of Jesus Christ is what He has already done, "Christ crucified." Salva-

tion is what God did through Jesus Christ, not what man does. The believers' good works must be the fruit of the life of Christ who resides in us, Christ, who is our

"righteousness, holiness, and redemption."

We do not muster the effort to pay Him back for what He did. No one ever can. And it is an insult to Him. Grace repaid is grace negated. Instead we immerse ourselves in

the person and works of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit through His Word, through His Church, and learn the rhythms of His grace and His work in every area of

life. In the ordinary as well as the momentous. In sickness and in health. In abun-dance and in need. Jesus leading in the dance, where we begin to see what He sees,

feel what He feels, until the conclusion of God's redemptive music.

Jesus said, “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing" (John

15:5). We do not dream up religious projects then ask God to bless them. We simply

follow Jesus' lead. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Ephesians

2:10). Lakan
