Each CAPM software version released is supported by a Windows Switchgear Operating System (WSOS) update.

Always ensure that you have the latest release WSOS and that it is compatible with the release version of CAPM software being installed.

CAPM4/5 Software Upgrade

OBJECTIVE:

To Install the latest revision software over an existing version of CAPM4/5 software, whilst retaining all previous control and protection settings.

Equipment Required

Nu-Lec Industries Serial Cable Part No: N05-902

Laptop Personal Computer (32 bit system) with the latest version of WSOS installed.

The replacement software file.

(i.e. 21728528.13a)

The cap5load.exe file.

CAPM Software and Executable Files

CAPM4/5 Software Upgrade Procedure

Save the existing Switchgear Configuration Settings.

Download the CAPM software file to the controller using cap5load.exe.

Confirm new software is installed.

Reload Switchgear Configuration Settings.

Compare On-Line and Off-Line files.

Restore the Switchgear to Service.

Trip and Close must be isolated

Download Completed OK

Confirm New Software is Installed

Compare Switchgear Settings

Restore ACR to Service

View the Event Log on the Operator Control Panel to confirm that a Pickup event has not been generated.

Enable the Trip and Close solenoids by returning both switches to the Enable position.

Go off-line with WSOS, disconnect and store the PC and serial cable.

CAPM Software Summary

The latest release of CAPM4/5 software is version 28.

Under/Over Frequency Protection is available on CAPM5 but not CAPM4.

Each CAPM4/5 software release is supported by a release of WSOS Ver 4.

CAPM4/5 software is loaded using cap5load.exe from the Command Prompt.

The WSOS Compare command can be used to check that the configuration has been correctly restored following a CAPM software upgrade.
