For the longest time, I did not understand and could not explain Scripturally why Catholics do

Eucharistic Adoration. The answer is to be found in the pages of the

Old Testament. In the Book of Exodus, God dines with some of the Israelites. God has a heavenly banquet with

Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu and seventy elders of Israel. It says “They beheld God, and ate and drank

(Exodus 24:9-11).” Can you imagine that? Can fathom going to a banquet with God???

If you go eat at a restaurant you might decide to get a box so you can eat it later. If you go to Chinese restaurant you

will certainly get a fortune cookie to take home. If you go to a banquet with God you definitely

want leftovers. God gave them the Bread of the Presence (a relic of that heavenly banquet) to keep in the tabernacle

and, later, in the Temple in Jerusalem. While the Israelites were wandering through

the wilderness God commanded that a tabernacle be constructed. Three things were

to be housed in the tabernacle: the Ark of the Covenant, the golden Lampstand, and the golden Table of the Bread

of the Presence. The Bread of Presence was laid on a golden table with incense and flagons and bowls

(so sacrifices could be offered). It was the Bread of the Face of God. It was an external sign of God’s invisible

Presence. This is why we place the Eucharist, the Bread of Life, in the tabernacle. Three times a year Jews would

travel to the city of the Jerusalem. On those occasions, the Levitical priests would retrieve the Bread of Presence from

the Holy Place and show it to the people. According to the Babylonian Talmud, this is what

happened. “They (the priests) used to lift it (the Golden Table) up and exhibit the Bread of the Presence on it to

those who came up for the festivals, saying to them, “Behold, God’s love for you.” It is clear that Jesus portrays

Himself as the true Bread of the Presence. He is God’s presence on earth. He is God. Jesus uses bread and wine at the last Supper probably to recall the Bread of Presence and

declare that He is the true Bread of Life. “Like the priests in the Temple before him, by means of the

Last Supper, Jesus was saying to his disciples: “Behold, God’s love for you,” writes Dr. Brant Pitre. During

adoration the priest puts the Eucharist in a monstrance and displays it before us so as to say “Behold, God’s love for you!”

That is why we do Eucharistic Adoration.

Durante mucho tiempo, no entendí ni pude explicar Bíblicamente por qué los Católicos hacen la

Adoración Eucarística. La respuesta se encuentra en las páginas del Antiguo

Testamento. En el Libro del Éxodo, Dios cena con algunos de los Israelitas. Dios tiene un banquete celestial con Moisés y

Aarón, Nadab y Abiú y setenta ancianos de Israel. Dice: "Ellos vieron a Dios, y comieron y bebieron (Éxodo 24: 9-11)."

¿Te imaginas eso? ¿Se puede imaginar ir a un banquete con Dios?

Si va a comer a un restaurante, puede decidir comprar una caja para poder comerla más tarde. Si va al restaurante

chino, seguramente obtendrá una galleta de la fortuna para llevar a casa. Si vas a un banquete con Dios, definitivamente

quieres sobras. Dios les dio el Pan de la Presencia (una reliquia de ese banquete celestial) para guardarlos en el tabernáculo y, más tarde, en el Templo de Jerusalén. Mientras

los Israelitas vagaban por el desierto, Dios ordenó que se construyera un tabernáculo. Tres cosas debían ser alojadas en el tabernáculo: el Arca de la Alianza, el Candelabro de Oro y

la Mesa de Oro del Pan de la Presencia. El Pan de la Presencia se colocó sobre una mesa dorada con incienso y

con garrafas y tazones (para poder ofrecer sacrificios). Fue el Pan del Rostro de Dios. Era un signo externo de la presencia invisible de Dios. Por eso colocamos la Eucaristía, el Pan de

la Vida, en el tabernáculo. Tres veces al año los Judíos viajaban a la ciudad de Jerusalén. En esas ocasiones, los sacerdotes Levíticos recuperaban el Pan de Presencia del Lugar Santo y se lo mostraban a la gente. Según el Talmud Babilónico, esto es lo que sucedió. "Ellos (los sacerdotes) solían levantarlo (la Mesa Dorada) y exhibir el Pan de la

Presencia en él a los que subían para las festividades, diciéndoles:"Miren, el amor de Dios por ustedes." que Jesús

se presenta a sí mismo como el verdadero Pan de la Presencia. Él es la presencia de Dios en la tierra. Él es Dios. Jesús usa el pan y el vino en la última Cena, probablemente para recordar el Pan de la Presencia y declarar que Él es el verdadero Pan de la Vida. "Al igual que los sacerdotes en el templo antes que Él, a través de la Última Cena, Jesús estaba diciendo a sus discípulos:"He aquí, el amor de Dios por ti",

escribe el Dr. Brant Pitre. Durante la adoración, el sacerdote pone la Eucaristía en una custodia y la muestra ante nosotros

El aborto es la principal causa de muerte en los Estados Unidos. No solo eso, sino que en Memphis y en el resto del

país, el aborto está matando de manera desproporcionada a los bebés afroamericanos. Los pobres, los marginados y las

minorías están entrando por las puertas de Planned Parenthood en Memphis para abortar a sus hijos. Es hora de

Abortion is the leading cause of death in the United States. Not only that, but in Memphis and the rest of the country, abortion is disproportionately killing African

American babies. The poor, the marginalized, and minorities are entering the doors of Planned

Parenthood in Memphis to abort their children. It is time to awaken Memphis, and specifically the Church, to the fact that abortion is now the greatest civil rights issue

facing the United States today. Memphis Coalition for Life is excited to announce that evangelist Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King Jr. is coming to Memphis to address the public on

this very topic! As the Executive Director of Civil Rights for the Unborn, Dr. King will inspire Christians from all

denominations to get involved in the fight to end the atrocity of abortion in Memphis and to save lives from
