7-3 PIPING PROTECTIONDuring the period of installation work, perform the protection of piping according to the Table 1 in order to pre-vent the ingress of moisture, dust, and dirt.Table 1

CAUTIONPay the utmost attention to the ingress of dust and dirt in the case of piping through the penetration holes on the walls or taking out the ends of piping outdoors.

7-4 PIPING CONNECTIONS• Be sure to perform nitrogen substitution and nitrogen blowing at the time of brazing. (Refer to Fig. 2)

A large quantity of oxidization film will be generated on the inner surface of piping if brazing is performed without nitrogen substitution or blowing nitrogen into piping, thus giving an adverse influence on a variety of valves and the compressor in the refrigerant system and obstructing the normal operation of the air con-ditioner.

• At the time of brazing with nitrogen being applied, use a reducing valve and set the pressure of nitrogen to

0.02 MPa (approximately 0.2 kg/cm2) or below, when the cheek will feel a breeze.

CAUTIONDo not use anti-oxidants when brazing the piping joints. Residue can clog piping and break equipment.

be sure the terminal block wiring to the outdoor unit and BEV unit are properly matched. If wiring and piping between the outdoor unit and an indoor unit and BEV unit are mismatched, the system may cause a mal-function.

• A circuit breaker capable of shutting down power supply to the entire system must be installed.• Refer to the installation manual attached to the outdoor unit for the size of power supply wiring connected

to the outdoor unit, the capacity of the circuit breaker and switch, and wiring instructions.• Be sure to ground the air conditioner.• Do not connect the ground wire to gas and water pipes, lightning conductors, or telephone ground wires.

• Gas pipes: might cause explosions or fire if gas leaks.• Water pipes: no grounding effect if hard vinyl piping is used.• Telephone ground wires or lightning conductors: might cause abnormally high electric potential in the

ground during lighting storms.

PRECAUTIONSUse ring-type crimp-style terminals for connecting wires to the power supply terminal board. If unavailable, observe the following points when wiring.• Do not coat stranded wires with solder.• Do not connect wires of different gauge to the same power

supply terminal. (Looseness in the connection may cause overheating.)

• When connecting wires of the same gauge, connect them according to the righthand figure.

• Use the specified electric wire. Connect the wire securely to the terminal. Lock the wire down without applying exces-sive force to the terminal.

• Use an appropriate screwdriver for tightening the terminal screws. A screwdriver with a small head will strip the head and make proper tightening impossible.

• Over-tightening the terminal screws may break them.

⟨Precautions for grounding terminal connections⟩Be sure to connect the ground wire so that the cup washer will come out of the cutout part.(Otherwise, the effect of grounding may be lost due to the insufficient contact of the ground wire.)

• Transmission wiring can be branched to 16 lines. Branched lines cannot be further branched. (Refer to Fig. 5)

• Do not connect 200 V to the terminal block for transmission wiring by any means.Otherwise, the entire system will be damaged.

• Be sure to keep the following limits, or otherwise a transmission error may result.• Wiring length: 1000 m max.• Total wiring length: 2000 m max.• Number of branches: 16 max.

• Transmission wiringRemove the EL. COMPO. BOX lid, and connect the transmission wires to the transmission wiring terminals (F1 and F2 on the indoor side and F1 and F2 on the outdoor side). In that case, pull the wires into the equip-ment through the wiring through hole, and bundle and fix the wires securely with the accessory clamp (1).

[CAUTIONS]• Do not connect the power supply wiring to terminals F1 and F2 of the transmission wiring terminal block by

any means.Otherwise, the entire system may be damaged.

CAUTION• Use the accessory clamp (1) when clamping each wire so that the wire will be clamped securely and that

no tension will be imposed on the wiring connection block. When wiring, arrange the wires neatly so that the EL. COMPO. BOX lid will not rise, and attach the cover securely. When attaching the EL. COMPO. BOX lid, pay the utmost attention so that the wires will not be caught between the EL. COMPO. BOX lid.

• After the wires are connected, seal the wiring extraction part with putty or heat insulation material (field sup-plied) so that there will be no clearance in order to prevent the intrusion of small animals from the outside. If insects or small animals intrude, short-circuiting may occur in the EL. COMPO. BOX.

• Separate the low-voltage wires (transmission wiring) at least 50 mm from high-voltage wires including the power supply and ground wires outside the equipment so that they will not be wired through the same place. Otherwise, the transmission wires will receive electrical noise (external noise), thus resulting in air-conditioner errors and failures.

9. TEST OPERATION(1) Check that the EL. COMPO. BOX lid is closed after the installation of the indoor, BEV, and outdoor units

are all finished.

(2) Refer to the installation manuals provided to the indoor and outdoor units for the trial operation of the air conditioner.
