Position Summary and Overall Scope

The NDIS Autism Information Advisor assists people on the autism spectrum, their families and supporters to access information, resources and provide referrals in relation to autism.

The NDIS Autism Information Advisor is a member of the Autism Information Adviser Team that has responsibility for the creation and maintenance of NDIS information resources at Amaze.

The role is also responsible for providing general information, referral general assistance through the Autism Information Line as well as being the NDIS specialist, building team capabilities for the ongoing NDIS transition rollout.

Key ResponsibilitiesInformation Requests: Respond to incoming requests from people on the spectrum, families/carers and professionals via

the Amaze Autism Information telephone Line, web/email, IM and post enquiries and in person

Provide access to evidence-based information, resources, and referral options for people accessing the Information and Referral Service

Support families to understand their child’s diagnosis and the possible impact this may have on the family

Provide information to families via telephone, web/email, IM and post about what support they can access through the HCWA and NDIS funding, and inform them of other related initiatives that may support the development of their child

Represent the team as required at networking events, information sessions and expos

Autism Resources: Assist in the development of high-quality, evidence-based autism resources in line with team and

organisational priorities

Assist in maintaining and updating information materials so that the team provides the most up-to-date, relevant information to people on the spectrum, their families and professionals

Provide input into the creation of new resources based on requests received through the Information and Referral Service and feedback from the autism community

Facilitate the development and rollout of autism specific materials including but limited too, NDIS information, general collateral (Amaze/NDIS), process documentation, reference materials, training documents, correspondence

General: Other duties as may be directed by the AIA Supervisor in the provision of service delivery to

individuals and families living with autism

expected to be familiar with and adhere to, Amaze Policies and Procedures as documented in the Quality Management System (QMS).

Key Selection CriteriaQualifications Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable, but other experiences will be recognised

Knowledge Comprehensive understanding of the disability sector and awareness of available services in Victoria

is desirable Knowledge of Autism and the National Disability Insurance Scheme is desirable

Experience Experience in providing solution focused information and referrals to a wide range of stakeholders Demonstrated experience in use of technology and databases (experience with Salesforce an

advantage) Experience in a Not-For-Profit environment would be highly regarded

Competencies Excellent communication and presentation skills Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise high transactional workload Exceptional attention to detail Ability to work autonomously and within a team Ability to manage own workflow to SLA’s & KPI’s targets and benchmarks, prioritise tasks, while

working as part of a close team Good computer skills and experience with a range of computer applications and databases, including

Microsoft Office suite and CRM’s Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to utilise them in communicating

effectively with a variety of stakeholders Be able to demonstrate professional attributes such as being proactive, accountable, collaborative

and willing to provide a quality service offering whilst adhering to Amaze’s Principle’s.
