Coma aberration and PALs

“Coma” aberration is generated by local power variation and exists therefore in all PALs

It gives an asymetric image in the shape of a comet

Impact of Coma’s is particularly important in FAR VISION, as the pupil diameter in Far Vision is bigger

Control of Coma guarantees an optimal visual acuity and better contrast in Far Vision.

Physiology: In presence of astigmatism the eye naturally focuses on vertical lines
