Celebrity Guessing Game

o Write the name of a famous person or character on a sticky note for each

party-goer. Characters can be dead or alive, fictional or non-fictional, real

or "cartoon". Making sure that the player can't see it, stick the note to their

forehead.

Variation: Use “Holiday Themes” for the current holiday.

Variation: Use famous "pairs" (such as Prince Charming and

Cinderella, Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson). People not only have

to guess their own identity but find their partner.

Variation: For young children, use pictures instead of words.

Variation: Provide a box of costumes and accessories that people

have to run and get once they have worked out who they are (for

example, provide a pipe for Sherlock Holmes, a blonde wig for

Marilyn Monroe, a red hat for Santa Clause.)

o When everyone has a sticky note, then the players mingle and walk

around the room asking questions that can ONLY be answered by "yes",

"no" and "not applicable" to try to work out who they are.

Three Act Charades

o Need:

Pens

Paper (3 pieces of paper for each person playing)

A container to hold the pieces of paper

Timer

o Separate everyone into two equal teams (Team A and Team B). Have

each person take three pieces of paper and write any word or familiar

short phrase on each piece of paper. Have each person fold their pieces

of paper in half and put them into the container. There are three rounds: 1)

Taboo 2) Password 3) Charades.

o Round 1: Taboo

Team A needs to select someone to go first, while Team B needs a

volunteer to watch the timer (set at one minute). The person from Team A

will grab a piece of paper from the container and try to have his/her

teammates guess the word on the paper using only use words and

sentences as hints, without using any motions, "sounds like...", or spelling

hints. (For example, if the word is "ribs", the person can say "baby back

___"). The person tries to have their team guess as many words as they

can within one minute. The teams will need to remember the guessed

words/phrases for subsequent rounds.

If the team is unable to guess the word/phrase, the person has the

option to "pass", puts the word/phrase back into the container and

continues with a new word/phrase. The person can only pass once

during his/her one minute.

After one minute, Team A counts the number of successfully

guessed words/phrases. Each guessed word/phrase counts as one

point. Team B is next, and selects a volunteer from their team to

start. A person from Team A will watch the timer, to be set at one

minute. This alternating process continues until all of the words

from the container run out. When the words run out, place all the

words/phrases back into the container for the second round.

o Round 2: Password

With the same style as the first round, the next team will select someone

to go first, with the other team sets the timer for one minute. However, in

this round, the person can use only one word as a hint for their team to

guess. (For example, if the word is "ribs", the person can say the word

"bone"). The team needs to recall the words/phrases in the previous

round. Each guessed word/phrase counts as one point. Once all the

words in the container runs out, place all the words back into the container

for the third round.

o Round 3: Charades

In this final round, the person needs to act and use motions as hints for

their team to guess the word/phrase. (For example, if the word is "ribs",

the person can point to their rib cage). Each guessed word/phrase counts

as one point.

o When all the words run out, tally all the points. The team with the most

points wins the game.

Telephone Charades

o This twist on charades is fun to play with mixed ages. Prepare cards to act

out, such as diving into a pool, walking like an elephant or eating a

snowcone. Draw pictures under the words.

o If you have a large number of players, divide the group into two. The

group not participating may find it funny to watch the other players attempt

to act out the card.

o If playing in groups, have the first half line up with everyone facing the

same direction. Show the card to the last person in line and the group

watching. The person who saw the card taps the shoulder of the person in

front of her and she turns around. The first player acts out the card and

then the next person acts out what she thinks the first person was trying to

convey.

o Continue down the line until the last person to see the charade tries to

guess what the original card said. If playing with groups, the group that

correctly interprets and guesses the most cards wins.

Team Trivia

o Find a list of questions that you feel your group would be able to know the

answers to. Questions with multiple answers work best. (Ex. Name one of

Santa’s eight reindeer, Name a continent, Name one of the seven

wonders of the world, etc.) Younger children would need to have easier

questions than older children.

o Set up a table with a bell or buzzer on it.

o Split group into two teams. Have one person from each team come up to

the table and have each person stand with their hands behind their back

or placed on the edge of the table.

o Read a question, the first person to ring the bell gets to answer. If they

answer correctly, their team can continue to answer the question. If they

answer incorrectly, the other player can guess to then take the play to

their team. If neither player answers correctly, a different question is

asked. The team continues to answer the question until: A) they give all

the answers or B) They get an answer wrong. If they answer incorrectly

the opposing team has a chance to steal the play.

o Play continues until all questions have been asked. Questions can be

scored based on how many answers there are. (Ex. Naming all eight of

Santa’s reindeer would equal 8 points, etc.) If a team steals the play, they

automatically acquire all points. Tally up the points. The team with the

most points wins.

Indoor Mini Golf

Need

o Paper plates with centers cut out for “holes”

o Plastic golf balls or wiffle balls, one for each person

o Putters, at least one per group

o Scorecards

o Pencils

o Objects to use for obstacles

o Posters with hole numbers

o Clipboards for scorecards

Set up holes and obstacles throughout rooms in your house, garage, if the

weather is warm, outside. Make sure the holes kind of flow and are easy to

rotate through. Move breakable objects to a safe place.

Tape the paper plate holes on the floor and post the hole number at the

beginning of the hole where players tee off.

You can make these holes as long or short, easy or hard as you wish. Use

NONBREAKABLE objects from the room: ex. Books, movie cases, shoes,

blankets, furniture, pillows, etc. to use as obstacles. Secure the objects in place.

You could even have each hole be a different theme.

You may want to create the rule that a person can’t lift their putter beyond a

certain point/no hard or crazy swings, so as to keep the balls on the ground to

prevent accidents.

Split everyone into groups of about 3-5. The fewer players in a group the faster

play goes (usually.) Designate a scorekeeper in each group.

Give each group a putter, scorecard, and pencil. Give each person a ball.

Start groups on different holes. The object is to get your ball in the paper plate

hole in the fewest amount of strokes or hits. Have each person keep track of

their own strokes then tell the scorekeeper who will write it on the scorecard.

After going through all the holes, add up the scores. The person with the lowest

score wins.

Could have prizes on each hole for holes-in-one. If anyone gets a hole-in-one,

they get the prize for that hole.

House of Fire

Need

o “House of Fire” Scorecards. (See reverse side)

o Pens/markers

o Dice, 2 per table

Break everyone into groups of fours and sit at tables or on the floor in a square.

Adjust the number of tables for the number of players you have. Specify a

“Head Table” and a “Bottom Table”. People sitting across from each other are on

a team. All tables are rolling simultaneously.

The object of the game is to roll the entire list, in order, as fast as you can with

your teammate. As long as you either roll what you need or roll doubles, you can

continue to roll. If you don’t roll either, you pass the dice to the next person and

they then roll for their team until they can’t roll anymore. Then they pass the dice

to your teammate, who continues where you left off, and so on. If you roll double

sixes, your turn is over and you and teammate must begin the sequence over

again.

The first team to roll the whole sequence in order yells “House of Fire”. The

round is now over. If you achieved “House of Fire”, you and your teammate

check off two points on the side of your scorecard. At each table, the team who

was farthest in the sequence gets one point, they then move “up” a table and the

team who was not stays at the table. After every round, you change teams.

Special rules for the “Head Table”

o Teams do not change after the round

o The winning team stays and the losing team moves to the “Bottom Table”

If the group doesn’t break into groups of 4 evenly, have the “Bottom Table” be a

bye table where the players can take a break from play

At Christmas, you could have everyone bring a white elephant gift. The winning

team at each table gets to choose if they want to trade their gift with another

player at the table or keep it.

Have bowls of candy on the table for people to munch on.

The object of the game is to correctly guess all Christmas carol title for each

picture.

Have guests each take a picture sheet and a guessing sheet. You could just

have guests number a piece of paper from 1 to 33.

Have guest write down their guesses for each picture.

The person with the most correct guesses wins.
