PalaeolithicCan you think back a long time? The Palaeolithic is the oldest stone

age. People painted pictures of animals on

the wall. Are you wondering how they got food? Well what they did was they hunted

food and they gathered. The reason why people call it the

stone age is because nearly everything was made of rock.

Neolithic People today believe today that Stonehenge was built

by cave men. In this stage of the stone age they farmed. Now the cave men settled in the houses. When they started to farm it was the biggest different

change in all of history. Skara Brae in Scotland has a Neolithic village. There

are stone houses, stone beds, stone dice and stone toys.

The Bronze Age Around about 2500 BC the Bronze Age began. The Bronze

Age was different to the stone age because the people

used copper and tin. The Beaker folk helped the British

Bronze age people to make bronze. The idea came from

west Asia. There was a person called Amesbury archer.

People say he was the king of Stonehenge. He was one of

the first Beaker folk and he made Beaker pots . You have

to mix tin and copper to make bronze! People that did not

get taught how to make bronze farmed and looked after

animals or became potters. The Bronze Age people didn’t

have money but they traded. Trading means swapping. In

the bronze age the wooden wheel was invented. They

became richer . Next comes the iron age.
