Every Thursday is an Early Out Thursday. Dismissal is 1:35.
Dismissal is 12:20 on Minimum Days.
Regular dismissal is 2:25.

Open Court Reading Program
Building confident readers is the primary goal in first grade. Reading instruction is 120 min./day.
End of year benchmark is at least 55 WCPM (50th percentile).
The components of the reading program are: Phonemic awareness, phonics, sound spelling strategies, comprehension strategies, reading fluency, grammar.

Snacks / Lunch
Students may bring healthy snacks for recess breaks.
School lunch is $2.50
School breakfast is $1.50 and starts at 7:30.
Homework Policy The primary goal of homework in first
grade is to develop positive work and study habits and to build independence and responsibility.
Homework is not graded but will be checked! Incomplete packets will be completed during Fun Friday.
Lost homework packets will not be replaced!
Homework goes home on Fridays and is due the following Friday.
Each packet will consist of spelling practice, math practice, and Reading Logs.
Birthday Policy If you plan to bring in birthday treats,
please let me know ahead of time so that we can make proper arrangements.
PLEASE…NO cakes!
PLEASE…NO balloons!
Water Bottle Policy
Students may bring a water bottle to class with them but it MUST seal.
Please try to avoid sending in any other kinds of drinks with your child (Gatorade).
Students will be given opportunities to fill water bottles during the day.
Important! Your student needs his/her backpack
and folder EVERYDAY!
Check your student’s folder each day. Important information and class work may be sent home daily.
Send lunch money in a sealed envelope with your student’s name/PIN. Label snacks/lunch bags.
No flip flops or spaghetti straps! Back strapped sandals are acceptable. Label all clothing!!
