On behalf of the ASCTA Board and staff, I’m extremely excited to be hosting the 2018 ASCTA CONVENTION at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and welcome you to join us at the pinnacle event on the calendar for swimming coaches, swimming teachers and swim school operators.
The change of location to Brisbane provides us with an opportunity to grow the convention and deliver all delegates an amazing experience.
Our vision for this event is enabling everyone coming together to learn, network, share experiences, challenge perspectives and celebrate the achievements and great work that is being undertaken each and every day across Australia and Internationally.
In a departure from previous years, all delegates will gather at the ASCTA CONVENTION at one time over a four-day period. There will be one welcome celebration, one awards gala dinner, four plenary sessions for everyone to attend, a suite of Swim Australia courses and coaching master classes with some of our esteemed International presenters.
The amazing ASCTA team have been working hard to put together an informative and inspiring program. The development of the program had input from a large number of people with extensive backgrounds in coaching, teaching, and swim school operations.
There is no better time to do the Silver coaching course as we pilot the new learning modules, and we are showcasing a selection of Australia’s high-performance coaches who are presenting as part of their Gold accreditation. A new SAT workshop will update presenters on course developments and ongoing requirements, and the Certificate IV in training and assessment is a must do for anyone needing to comply with the changes which have recently taken affect.
The Exhibition area will be dynamic and engaging in 2018 with a dedicated marketplace to showcase the products, services and innovation of partners, suppliers and contributors to our industry.
Regardless of your area of focus, you will be able to select topics and presenters from up to five different streams each day. There is something for everyone in our action-packed program and you will walk away from this convention with new ideas, new connections and a greater ability to be successful.
The BCEC has been recognised as the best convention centre in the world. I look forward to seeing you there in May 2018 to experience all they have to offer, and to contribute to the ongoing evolvement and success of your national ASCTA CONVENTION. Register now to be part of the action!

Julie-Ann James is one of the world’s leading baby and toddler swimming consultants. She has been teaching this age group to swim for over 20 years and is responsible for introducing the Aquababies baby and toddler swimming program to the UK, China, Jordan, Turkey and Malta.
Due to her world renowned success she works with high profile clubs in China to create bespoke programs and will be promoting this service globally.
Julie-Ann is planning to launch PABA later this year and roll it out internationally over the coming year. PABA is a 30-minute aqua-based work out program for mothers and their babies. It is designed to improve mothers’ fitness and introduce babies to the water. The program is comprised of a series of moderately paced, low impact and fat-burning aqua aerobic exercises for the mother that integrate with basic baby water safety and confidence techniques.
Julie-Ann's aspirations are much higher, she now wants to create programs for governments and also work on community programs.

Brisbane offers a quintessential Australian experience from a convenient urban base – including encounters with koalas, kangaroos, wild dolphins and close proximity to the Great Barrier Reef and famous beach destinations.
