Faux Fur Blanket
Snuggle up with this cozy faux fur blanket that will keep you warm on a cold winter’s night. This easy to make blanket comes together quickly, make it in an afternoon and enjoy it in the evening!

o Faux Fur - 1(40 x 60”)
o Wool felt or Wool type fabric for backing - 1(40 x
60”)
o Wool felt or Wool type fabric for binding - 4(3” x 60”)

o SINGER® Sewing Machine
o ¼” Piecing Foot
o All Purpose Foot
o 3 Spools Serger Thread
o All purpose thread for construction
o SINGER® Overlock Needle Size 90/14
o SINGER® Denim Sewing Machine Needle Size 90/14
o Rotary cutter, mat
o 6” x 24” ruler
o SINGER® Iron
o Temporary Spray Adhesive
o Lint Roller (Tip: when working with fur there will be a lot of lint when cutting and
serging so having a lint roller handy, will make it easier to keep your working area clean)
o Pins
o Thread snips or fine tipped scissors

Serger Set Up
o Insert a SINGER® Overlock Needle Size 90/14 in
your SINGER® Serger
o Set up for a Three-Thread Wide Overlock Stitch.
o Thread with Serger Thread.
o You may have to adjust the stitch width or
cutting width to accommodate the thickness of
the fur.
Sewing Machine Set Up
o Insert a Denim Sewing Machine Needle Size 90/14 in your SINGER® Sewing Machine.
o Thread with cotton sewing thread on the top and on the bobbin.
o Attach the ¼” Piecing Foot.
o Select a Straight Stitch with a stitch length of 2.5mm.
Project Steps 1. Lay out the backing fabric right side down on a large flat surface. 2. Spray the wrong side of the backing fabric with Temporary Spray Adhesive. 3. Lay the faux fur on top of the backing with the right side of the fur up.
(Note: the wrong sides of the fabric will be together.) 4. The Temporary Spray Adhesive will hold the two layers together which will make it easier to
serge the layers together.

5. Serge around the perimeter of the blanket, use the blade to just shave off the fuzzies but
not the real fabric. Serge with the fur side up. By serging the layers together, it will compress the fur to make it easier to sew the binding on.
6. On your SINGER® Sewing Machine sew the binding strips together to form one long strip.
7. Press the seams open. 8. Press in half with the wrong sides together. 9. Sew the binding to the top side of the blanket with raw edges together using
a ¼” seam allowance. 10. Fold the binding to the wrong side of the blanket and pin in place. 11. Attach the All Purpose Foot.
12. Stitch the binding from the right side in the ditch.
