+Syllabus Think-Pair-Share

With your group, identify the 3 important changes from last semester’s syllabus

Page 5: + Intro to Geometry Week 1 January 20 January 23, 2015

+Changes?

1. Friday Quizzes2. Materials stored in Ms. McNeill’s room

3. Tutoring Hours

Page 6: + Intro to Geometry Week 1 January 20 January 23, 2015

+Friday Quizzes. Why?

1. More frequent assessments will give me a better idea of our progress in class

2. These weekly quizzes will be timed to help prepare us for standardized assessment (ACT)

3. Students will be able to self evaluate what sections of each unit they need to review before a test by their scores on these tests

Page 7: + Intro to Geometry Week 1 January 20 January 23, 2015

+Materials. Why? 1. We are transitioning to the use of a

more interactive notebook and I want to be sure that my students are always prepared with the right supplies to complete these hands-on activities

2. It is important that Students complete their math work in pencil and this system ensures that they have the materials they need at all times

3. The folder and loose leaf paper are for keeping handouts safe and for extra paper to turn work in on instead of ripping sheets out of the composition notebook.

Page 8: + Intro to Geometry Week 1 January 20 January 23, 2015

+Tutoring. Why?

I have limited my tutoring schedule to Wednesday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:30 PM.

If you cannot make this tutoring time, I will be meeting with students BY APPOINTMENT ONLY on Thursday afternoons or before school if necessary.

This will allow me to plan better lessons for you all and ensure that students are properly using tutoring time rather than taking advantage of the many hours I am available.

+Procedures (New and Old) Entering the classroom

Homework Turned in to your period’s HOMEWORK folder by the

window at the beginning of class the day it is due

Passing Back Papers All your graded work will be filed in the pink container

by the window. You can check and take home this work whenever you like. Any uncollected work will be thrown away on the first of every month.

Each of you will be given a number in alphabetically order

This number MUST be written on everything you turn in If it is not written, you will lose 1% off your

score on the assignment. This is your calculator number AND

your textbook number

+Folders

The classwork, homework and graded assignment folder is where you can collect any graded work from me once I have entered it into Powerschool. Any work not collected will be thrown away on the first of

every month. It is your responsibility to collect these assignments if you would like to keep them or to understand your grade.

The assessment folder is where we will store all of your tests, quizzes, projects, etc. You will use this folder to track your progress over the course of the semester. This folder MAY NOT leave my class. But you may use it to

study and review any past assessment during my tutoring hours
