CREATE A TARGET ASSAULT RACE

The Target Assault Race Creator expands the possibilities of the GTA Online Stunt Race Creator, bringing in new functionality and features essential to a Target Assault Race, allowing creators to bring their talents to the challenge of Target Assault racing.

The Target Assault Creator tool brings all your favorite props from the stunt creator and adds some new elements integral to a Target Assault Race. This guide offers some general tips to get you started on constructing and sharing your very own Target Assault Race.

INTRO

To access the Target Assault Race Creator, enter the Pause menu screen, scroll down to select “Creator” and choose the Stunt Race option from the Race Creator submenu. From there you’ll be able to select Target Assault Race.

Creating Target Assault Races is pretty much exactly the same as creating a regular stunt race but with the obvious need to add targets to your race; prerequisites include details such as a race title, description, and photo, and you’ll need to define format options such as race type, route type, available vehicles, etc, as you would with all other races. For more directions around race details, visit the Social Club and check out the Race Creator Guide.

When setting up your race, bear in mind that Target Assault races use vehicles that require a driver and a gunner so your default player number will go up in 2s.

PLACEMENTWith your race details in place, it’s time to start laying out your Target Assault Race course; in the Race Creator main menu, select PLACEMENT.

Like race details, placement prerequisites follow the same format as creating any race; you’ll need to drop the race trigger, lobby camera, and checkpoints. Targets are an additional essential element for a Target Assault race for it to be valid.

From the placement menu, select Props to tap into over 500 Props (you can place a maximum of 200 props), including new props specific to Target Assault Races. For a more detailed looks at stunt race props, please refer to the Stunt Race Creator Guide.

TARGETS:

The key element that makes the Target Assault Race what it is, is the targets you place around the race track for players to shoot at as they drive. Within the props menu, navigate to “Target Assault Props” and you’ll find a selection of targets in various sizes and scaffolds with which to mount your targets at various heights.

These races are won or lost based on points scored rather than where you place so keep that in mind when placing your targets. Bear in mind that smaller targets give more points than large ones and each ring of a target is worth more points the closer you hit to the center.

PUBLISHING AND PLAYING

TEST:

A full test drive must be completed before you can save or publish your Target Assault Race; all routes, and checkpoints, will have to be tested if your race contains divergent raceways with separated paths. If any changes are made to the Event after you have tested it, then it must be tested from the beginning again. Not until you have tested from the start to the finish line without making changes can the Race then be published.

SAVE:

Save your Target Assault Race at any point and reload it to continue making improvements. Saved jobs must be published before they will be available on the Rockstar Games Social Club.

PUBLISH/UPDATE VERSION:

Publishing your Target Assault Race sends it to the Rockstar Games Social Club. You can publish your Target Assault Race anytime after completing your creation and successfully testing it from start to finish without making additional changes - for Races with secondary checkpoints, you’ll need to test both routes. It’s possible to publish your event without saving first, but it’s wise to also save a version of your creation. When you return to your Race to continue making improvements, you can load your event from the published version of the Job on Social Club. Please note that making changes to the published version will reset all the stats associated with your original job.
