Twice a year, Cynthia Matossian, MD, FACS of Matossian EyeAssociates participates as a featured faculty member at the weekend­longsurgical mentor resident program sponsored by Bausch + Lomb for surgicalresidents and their attendings from academic programs all over the US. Thisevent is designed to teach cataract surgery techniques through hands­onexperience in a wet lab setting in Tampa, Florida.

Priya Desai, MD, MBA Certified to Perform

Trabectome

Priya V. Desai, MD, MBA was recently certified to perform the Trabectome. Trabectome is a minimally­invasive glaucoma surgery that targets thedrainage system (the trabecular meshwork) inside the eye to reduce eyepressure. The Trabectome lowers intraocular pressure by increasing thedrainage of fluid inside the eye. This surgery can be paired with cataractsurgery or can be done as a stand­alone procedure for mild to moderateglaucoma. Dr. Desai is offering this surgery to her glaucoma patients.

Nora is getting married this August! Many of youused to get updates about our daughter, Nora,when she was young and when we used to have thepaper version of our patient newsletter. We arebusy planning a wedding for this summer in theEndless Mountains of Pennsylvania where we havea rustic cabin on a small pond. It will be aninformal destination wedding for the weekendwith BBQ, S’mores and a fire pit. I will share somepictures with you after the wedding. Please keepyour fingers crossed for good weather.
