ADVANTAGES
Controlled uniformity.Uniformity is assured throughexact proportioning andthorough mixing of gradedperlite and gypsum plaster atthe mill. Gypsolite provides auniform base for the finish coat.
Lightweight.Gypsolite Plasterweighs less than half as muchas sanded gypsum plaster, thusreducing the dead-load onframing.
High insulating value.Witha k factor of 1.5, Gypsoliteprovides about 3 times theinsulating value of sandedplaster.
Fire resistant.Gypsolite hasexcellent fire-resistive qualitiesand generally provides fireratings higher than sandedplaster.
LIMITATIONS
Not for exterior use.
Gypsolite Plaster must be keptdry until used. It must bestored off the ground, undercover and away from moisturesources.
Not to be used in interior areaswhere directly exposed tofree water or severe moistureconditions.
Not to be used in areassubjected to temperaturesexceeding 125F (52C) forextended periods.
When used over a metal lath,a sand float finish should bespecified. A smooth-trowelfinish is not recommended sincethe combination of a relativelysoft (perlite aggregated) base
coat and a hard (smooth-trowellime/gauging) finish has thepotential for cracking andspalling of the finish coat.

INSTALLATION
RECOMMENDATIONS
Installation of GypsolitePlaster should be consistentwith methods describedin the noted standards andreferences and as indicatedabove.
Gypsolite Plaster should bebrought to a true level surfacewithout the applicationof water and left rough toreceive the finish coat.
A top-quality plastering jobrequires not only top-gradeplaster but careful planning, handling and storage ofmaterial. Plumb and trueframing and properly installedplaster bases are equally vital.Reinforcement should beapplied to areas of possiblestress concentration; e.g., theintersection of door headsand jambs, for example.
Good plastering practicesdictate that Gypsolite Plastersets within 2-3 hours of beingapplied.
Do not retemper.
All tools and mixing equipmentmust be kept clean.
Maintain a temperature of atleast 55F (13C) and notmore than 80F (27C)
before, during and afterplastering.
Provide adequate but notexcessive ventilation.
Prevent dryouts by coveringheat ducts and windowopenings where necessaryuntil material has come to afinal set.
