Rome Tourist Attractions

colosseum Pantheon Circus Maximus Museo della Pasta (museum of pasta)

We chose these sites around Rome because of their beautiful architecture and the significance they have to the magnificent history of Rome.

Colosseum

The colosseum is an amphitheatre in the centre of Rome. It was the biggest building that the Roman empire ever built.

The slaves of Rome were made to fight dangerous animals and sometimes even each other, for the entertainment of the emperor and his people.

Pantheon

The Pantheon was a temple built for all the ancient Gods of Rome.

The Pantheons height and diameter are the same 43.3m.

After 2000 years of it being built it still held the record for the largest unreinforced dome in the world.

It is now used as a Roman catholic church.

Circus Maximus

The Circus Maximus is an ancient Roman chariot racing stadium.

It was the first stadium ever built and was the largest all throughout the time of the empire

It was 621m long and 118m wide and it could hold about 150,000 spectators.

It is now a public park.

Museo della Pasta

The pasta museum displays the history the production and the consumption of pasta in Rome.

Venice Tourist Attractions

Piaza san marco Ponte di rialto Ponte dei sosperi Basalica di san marco.

We chose these sites around Venice because of their beautiful architecture and the significance they have to the magnificent history of Venice.

Piaza san marco

The piaza san marco is also known as St. marks square by anglophones. The piaza san marco is considered

Venices main tourist attraction because all of the religious and civil ceremonies are held there.

It is so close to the canal that it gets flooded multiple times a year.

Ponte di rialto

It is one of the four bridges spanning the grand canal.

The ponte di rialto was the first bridge built over the grand canal and was built in 1181.

The bridge was damaged in 1320 by a revolt and collapsed twice before it got properly rebuilt in 1551.

Ponte dei sosperi

The bridge of sighs is an enclosed bridge made of limestone, and has windows with stone bars.

It was designed by Anthony Contino (who’s Uncle designed the Rialto bridge) and was built in 1602.

This bridge connects the old prison and interrogation rooms of Venice.

Basilica di san marco

St. Marks Basilica is the most famous of many churches in Venice.

It became the cities cathedral in 1807 after being the dodges palace’s private chapel.

It is well known for its byzantine mosaics and as a symbol a venitian wealth.

Facts

Rome interesting fact: Back in the prime of its empire Rome ruled all over Europe and Africa and it stayed that way for centuries.

Venice interesting fact: The main source of transportation around venice is by boat through the many man-made canals throughout the city.

The distance between the two cities is 393 kilometres.
