DENOMINACIÓN DE ORIGEN Originally designed as a guarantee of the place of origin and quality of wine, the Denominación de Origen is now also used for other products such as cheeses, olive oil, fruit and meat, especially where the production of a particular region is highly re-garded (as in the case of olive oil from Jaén, Man-chego cheese, or Jabugo cured ham). EU law now regulates the use of such labeling.

At Lorentes, we care about our food only serving the best of

Spanish products and with D.O. (Denominación de Origen), such

as Manchego cheese, Burgos black pudding, Mallorca sobrasada,

Pamplona chistorra, etc.

Quality of our products

EL ORIGEN DE LAS TAPASApparently it all started when King Alfonso XIII ordered a glass of Sherry, but realised a wind was blowing in the bar, threatening his wine glass with sand from the beach. To prevent this, a clever waiter rushed to cover it with a slice of Spanish Serrano ham. When the king went for a sip, he asked in surprise: - What is this? The waiter replied: - Forgive my boldness Majesty, I have put on a “lid” (tapa, in Spanish) to keep the sand out of your glass. Alfonso XIII ate the slice of ham and requested to be served another sherry, but “another with the tapa”. Everybody laughed and emulated the king asking the same. We care about

tradition and how our food comes out of our kitchen to your table. Our talented

Spanish chefs bring the traditional with

freshness and creativity, yet mouth-watering.

How they’d say in Spain:
