for lndo-UK Project at M.C.Ranchi

: (i) Hindi Diwas 2016’ was observed on 14.09.16 by organising different competitions among the staff and officers at RMC Kolkata and other sub-ordinate offices

(ii) Dr. Sanjib Bandyopadhyay, DDGM 1. Attended a meeting on 01.09.16 at Nabanna, state secretariat regarding SARAT workshop on impact of Severe Weather at the coastal Regions of West Bengal. 2. Attended a meeting on 21.09.16 at Nabanna, state secretariat regarding 34th State Level Co-ordination Committee and Crop Insurance with a view to implement the crop insurance scheme, viz. “Bangla Fasal Bima Yojana” during the Rabi 2016-17 Season. 3. Attended UGC sponsor seminar organized by Haringhata College, Nadia on 24.09.16 and delivered lecture on Climate Change issues and challenges.

(iii) A meeting was organized on post monsoon, pre-cyclone exercise 2016 at Alipore on 27.09.16 with Officials delegates from State and Central level, electronic and print media under the chairmanship of Dr. Sanjib Bandyopadhyay, DDGM RMC Kolkata

(iv) Dr. Sanjib Bandyopadhyay, DDGM has been elected as

chairman of IMS, Kolkata chapter

1. Attended a meeting on “Obsevance of International Day for

Disaster Risk Reduction 2016” at Nabanna, Howrah on 06-09-

2016.

2. Participated as expert for the talk show “ Durjog Mokabila

on Flood” a live TV programme on DD Bangla held on 13-09-

2016.

3. Delivered a speech on the subject “Cyclone warning

procedure and its dissemination” at Post-Monsoon pre-

Cyclone Exercise held at R.M.C. Kolkata on 27.09.16.

(i) Col. S. K. Srivastava from State Disaster Management office Jharkhand state with one official visited M.C. Ranchi on dated:-08-09-2016 and discussed with Met. official reg. "weather warning issued for Jharkhand state.

(ii) lnteraction with concerned State authorities of Disaster Management, Agriculture, Water resources and District Authorities regarding Depression/Weather situation over Jharkhand, Severe Weather Warnings, Rainfall activities etc. - 09 occasions.

(iii) lnteractions held with Principal Nodal officer of AMFU, Ranchi, Dumka & Darisai regarding Meteorological situation & forecast for DAAS bulletins for Jharkhand state on 09 occasions.

6.2 NON-AVIATION:

i. a) Day to days’ Point Forecast of Temperature and Spatial Weather Forecast and warning of Severe Weather Parameters for five days over GWB, SHWB & Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Bay of Bengal and High seas of Indian Ocean under its jurisdiction and its updating in Websites in real time basis and its dissemination to various GOVT./ NGOs/ AIR/TV/ Press/ Media. B ) City/ Tourist Forecast over West Bengal C ) Now cast D ) Press and Media briefing in real time basis by Director, ACWC, Kolkata / DOs , as and when required .

ii. PPT. (Rainfall, its Spatial & Intensity) and NOWCAST of scheduled twelve stations and its verification and updating in ‘’METNET’’ website & E -mailed to NOWCAST Division , New Delhi and City Forecast of fifteen Stations of West Bengal and its dissemination in real time basis

iii. Collection, Preparation and Dissemination of Station wise Daily Rainfall data, Preparation of district wise daily rainfall statistics, DRMS Monsoon Bulletin under daily rainfall monitoring scheme(DRMS) of three subdivisions under its control , were sent by FAX / E-mail to :- a) NHAC, New Delhi and DGM (Hydrology) New Delhi . b) DDGM(WF) Pune, LRF Pune and NCC, Pune and all concerned c) District wise weekly and monthly rainfall data were sent by E-mail to :- --> DGM(H) New Delhi, ADGM ( R ) Pune , Agrimet, Pune, and DDGM(WF) Pune and all concerned . -- > Preparation and updating of Daily weather report and Weekly weather report and its updating in websites in real time basis Sent upto August 2016 to ADGM(R) Pune & DDGM (WF) Pune. Verification of Sub-division wise Rainfall for the month of August’2016 has been uploaded on MET-NET. 3. Local forecast verification of Patna for the month of July’2016 has been sent to RMC, Kolkata and DDGM (WF) Pune.

iv. Communication:- 1HPCS & MFI Server are working satisfactorily . WRF model output is being utilized for Forecasting point of view.

(a) On every Tuesday and Friday, district level ensemble forecast of NHAC downloaded from imd.gov.in website and value added forecast along with realized weather were sent to AMFUs in this state and M.O. Port Blair(value added forecast sent in excel format that is being downloaded from the moderated report generated by farmers portal) . Also online moderation of district level ensemble forecast for WB and A&N islands done in NeGPA (Govt. of India) software module named as farmers portal. After receiving district wise advisories from each AMFUs, Composite English Bulletins were issued on every Tuesday and Friday & Bengali Bulletin on Wednesday. The composite bulletins are uploaded in imd.agrimet.gov.in alongwith value added forecast(moderated forecast) on the date of their issue for display in the website .This unit also sends weather forecast and warnings by SMS to farmers through mKisan portal. This unit also sends weekly Met. Departure from Normal to Agrimet, Pune. (b) Crop yield forecast for Kharif rice (F-2) of both statistical and DSSAT was given for 17 districts of West Bengal. M.C. 8. जल मौसम विज्ञान (HYDROMETEOROLOGY) :

8.1 FLOOD METEOROLOGY

FMO Asansol: 93 numbers of QPF, Hydromet & General Bulletins are issued in the month of August. M.C. Patna (i) Daily rainfall data of different stations have been received in the register and also started sending to DGM(H) New Delhi,RMC,Kolkata,RTH New Delhi and CWC, New Delhi. (ii) Before the onset of SW monsoon in Bihar o 17/06/2016,FMO Patna became operational since 01/06/2016 (iii) Issuance of QPF,Hydromet bulletin and flood report was started from 01/06/2016 to CWC Patna.DGM,(H)New Delhi, RMC,Kolkata,RTH New Delhi and CWC, New Delhi (iv) Provisional tour programme for annual inspection of Rainguage Stations of 08 and 09 stations submitted by Shri Rajesh Kumar,SA and Shri G.K. Sinha,SA submitted and forwarded to RMC, Kolkata for approval (v) Weekly rainfall summary of Bihar generated on every Wednesday sent to DGM (Hydromet) & other users. (vi) Rainfall data of Bihar for August’2016 updated on 21st August’2016 & sent to DGM (Hydromet) & other destinations (vii) District wise Cumulative rainfall of Bihar up to 25th Sept’2016 generated and sent to DGM (Hydromet) & other destinations (viii) Real time basis Monthly /data for the month of Sept’2016 sent Hydro met New Delhi on 30/092016 (ix) Daily rainfall data of Bihar from 01st of June ‘2016 to till date sent to DGM (Hydro Met)

New and other destination. M.C.Gangtok Weekly Hydromet data in respect of all the districts of Sikkim were sent to Agrimet, Pune regularly during the month of July’2016. Weekly Rainfall Statistics in respect of all four districts of Sikkim sent to Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority, Gangtok, Agrimet, Pune, Food Security & Agriculture Development Department, Govt. of Sikkim regularly during the month of July’2016.

9. रेडार मौसम विज्ञान (RADAR METEOROLOGY) :

1. Doppler weather radar Kolkata was operated round the clock.

2. DWR Kolkata generated raw data at 10 minutes interval was disseminated to central server, New

Delhi, and to Nowcasting system server at ACWC Kolkata in NETCDF format.

3. DWR Kolkata observations were disseminated to the respective users on routine basis and uploaded

to IMD New Delhi and RMC Kolkata (ACWC) websites at every 10 minutes intervals.

4. Radar was serviceable throughout the month at M.C.Patna and Nowcast warnings were issued

three hourly round the clock
