First integrated into the EOC assessment at the end of the sequence. (English III and

Algebra II)

College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS)

Then mapped backwards across courses and grades to form a content-aligned system.


Readiness Standards

Supporting Standards

•Encompass 30–40% of the eligible TEKS• Will make up 60–65% of the assessment• Defined as those TEKS considered critical forsuccess in the current grade or subject andimportant for preparedness in the grade or subject that follows.

•Encompass 60–70% of the eligible TEKS• Will make up 35–40% of the assessment• Will include other TEKS that are considered supporting and will be assessed, though not emphasized.

HB 2135• Students in grades 5 and 8 who are enrolled in an above

grade level or for HS credit…

• DO NOT have to take both STAAR EOC and STAAR grade level tests…

• This removes the SSI requirement for those students enrolled in higher level courses and taking EOCs…

• However, the student will still be required to take and pass the reading or math portion of the grade level STAAR exam provided they are not enrolled in both Algebra and English I.

For students on the minimum high school program,the cumulative score requirement may vary bysubject area from 1 to 3 required assessments.

Recommended High School Program

In addition to meeting the cumulative score requirements in each of the four content areas,

students on the RHSP have to perform satisfactorily on EOC assessments for:

Distinguished Achievement Program

In addition to meeting the cumulative score requirements in each of the four content areas,

students on the DAP have to perform satisfactorily on the college-readiness component of the EOC

assessments for:

A student is not required to retake a course in order to retake an EOC assessment

A school district shall provide accelerated instruction to each student who fails to perform satisfactorily on an EOC assessment

EOC assessments will be worth 15% of the student’s final grade for that course.

Dyslexia accommodations will be expanded to include English I, II, and III EOC exams.


Reference materials will be included in test booklets.

Dictionaries must be supplied for English I, II and III EOC.

Calculators must be supplied for Algebra I, II, Geometry, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics EOCs

9 of the 12 EOCs will have modified exams offered.

4 hour time limit


EOCs are not grade specific… Students take the assessment whenever they

complete the course.
