4. Basic flow chart of familiar troubleshooting (level 2)
4.1 Switching on failure
Repair steps:
♦ Download software again
♦ Measure whether the output voltage of system connector (pin 1) is 4.2V, replace the connector or related ESD overvoltage protectors or power amplifier if the output isn’t 4.2V
♦ Measure whether the output voltage of R89 and VD6 are 4.2V, connecting PM with power supply if the output are normal; if not, check the solder of VD6
♦ Check the output voltage of P, C, and A in baseband when PM connected with power supply. Solder PM again or replace it, if the output isn’t normal
♦ When the power supply of C is normal, check whether the PS_HOLD signal is high voltage (R130 is high voltage or not); if it’s high voltage, solder a 10K resistor on the plate, and then check whether the handset can be switched-on. If switch-on successfully, solder SM6000 again or replace it
♦ Measure whether the PS_HOLD is normal, please Measure whether the PM_RESET signal of R38 is normal; if the signal isn’t normal, solder PM again or replace it
♦ Measure whether the output voltage of R32 is 2.85V, if it is, check whether the frequency output of GR1 is 19.2M; otherwise, solder GR1 again or replace it
♦ Measure whether the output of sleeping clock is normal

♦ Replace main chipset or FLASH, if the failure still exists after the steps above
4.2 Automatically restart
Repair steps:
♦ Download software again
♦ Check C110/C111
♦ Measure the pin 1 of G1, check whether the sleeping clock is normal (test the signal when you just switching-on for an instant, if you test after switching-on ,the handset will restart), the normal signal just like a 32.7K sine wave, if not, solder PM again or replace it
♦ After input test, measure whether the output is a 32.768K sine wave, if it isn’t, solder sleeping clock or replace MSM6000
4.3 Abnormal vibration
Repair steps: ♦ Measure whether the VD1 is normal, and the C2 is broken to the GND
♦ Measure whether the VIB_DRV signal is low voltage output, solder PM or replace it, if the signal always be high voltage
♦ The failure still exists after solder or replaces PM. Solder or replace the main chipset

FAQ:
♦ The VD1 is broken
♦ Vibration failure may caused by wrong setting when install the cables, please reconfigure
4.4 Abnormal LCD display
Repair steps:
♦ Check the solder of LCD
♦ Measure whether the output signal of LCD_BACKLIGHT is normal, check the main chipset if the output isn’t normal
♦ Check whether the drive chip (D5) output of LCD is normal
♦ Check whether the voltage VRFG_MSMP of LCD is normal
♦ Check whether the chip select signal, reset signal, and ID of LCD are normal. If they are not, check the resistors and Capacitors of LCD
♦ Check the main chipset
FAQ:
♦ Black display or display failure usually caused by the solder problem, check whether the LCD_FPC is poor welding firstly
4.5 Vibration/ringing tone failure
Repair steps: ♦ Check the solder of SPK
♦ Check ESD overvoltage protectors (FV1)
♦ Test whether the input signals of audio power amplifier (FF_SPKR_P, FF_SPKR_FN) are normal, these signals are from main chipset
♦ Check whether the output of audio power amplifier is normal, solder again or replace
FAQ:

♦ Vibration or ringing tone failure usually caused by weak setting, reconfigure will repair the faults
♦ Vibration or ringing tone failure caused by weak elasticity of touch points
4.6 SIM card unidentified
Repair steps:
♦ Check the solder of FV3 and UIM card connector
♦ Test whether there is output from VREG_RUIM when just switching-on for an instant, if the output isn’t normal, solder or replace PM
♦ Test whether the input of UIM_RESET, UIM_CLK are normal, check the related filter of resistor and capacitors
♦ The failure still exists after all the steps. The UIM card connector must be broken
4.7 Earphone failure

Repair steps: Recognise earphone failure.
♦ Check the solder of R2, C4
♦ Check the solder of earphone connector
♦ Measure whether the JACK_SENCE_N signal is normal, solder main chipset again or replace it, if the signal isn’t normal
Hang up/answer the phone failure by earphone
♦ Check the solder of earphone connector
♦ Check the solder of R79, R81, R82, R83, and R85
♦ Check the solder of FV2
♦ Replace the earphone connector
FAQ:
Earphone failure when connecting
♦ Measure whether the output voltage of earphone open circuit is normal, except the weak touch of earphone connector
♦ Measure the solder of earphone circuit components

4.8 No echo/transmitted/receive voice
Repair steps:
♦ Replace the MIC
♦ Make a phone call and test the failure from transmit circuit or receive circuit
♦ Transmit circuit failure. Check the related filter components of MIC
♦ Receive circuit failure. Check the solder of FV9
FAQ:
♦ No echo usually caused by the poor welding of the components from MIC circuit
4.9 Abnormal key
Repair steps:
♦ Check the failure caused by keypad or keyboard
♦ For keyboard failure, key-press failure, and abnormal key, measure whether the DOME is clean well, clean it
