The Rising risk of global pandemics

Modernisation and technology has shrunk the world. Today people and things can get across continents in hours, but Globalization comes with its pitfalls. The ease of transport has resulted in the import and export of everything, including infectious and occasionally deadly diseases. Viruses originating in wildlife in the depths of Africa can be transported halfway around the world in a matter of days.

Battleground India

In the last few decades, India has rapidly progressed from being an agrarian economy to an industrial and technology powerhouse. Already one of the most populous countries in the world, now more Indians live in crowded urban areas than ever before. It has never been easier for infections to hop a ride.

This combined with major challenges ranging from poverty, unsanitary living conditions, an overburdened healthcare system, and a serious lack of awareness regarding contagious diseases, makes Indians even more vulnerable to pandemics.

The first line of defence

The spread of infectious bacteria and viruses are mostly due to surface contamination. Ventilators, Portable Monitors, Stretchers, IV Pumps, Locker Rooms, Washrooms, Kitchen Surfaces, Escalator Rails, handholds on Public Transports, biometric fingerprint scanners - the list is endless.

With time, bacteria and viruses have evolved to become superbugs – increasing resistance to traditional methods of sanitisation. Research has proved categorically that alcohol does not have the persistent bacterial kill required to prevent the spread of these superbugs.

About Zoono Group

Zoono Group Limited was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand. Together with its subsidiaries, Zoono develops, manufactures, and distributes antimicrobial solutions all over the world. They oer antimicrobial products against various pathogens, including bacteria, virus, mould, algae, and fungi.

Zoono products find extensive use in hospitals, medical facilities, ambulances and rescue, laboratories, dentists, veterinaries, healthy homes, poultries, abattoirs, bottling plants, hotels, mosques, supermarkets, ATM machines, casinos, and wineries, as well as in IT hygiene, touch point programme, mould and odor remediation, food processing, marine, transportation, air conditioning, disaster recovery, and other applications.

Zoono Formula & Action

Zoono is 3-trimethoxy silyl Propyl Dimethyl Octadecyl Ammonium Chloride. Simply termed as : AMOSIL. Zoono is applied through fogging machines. The fine mist of droplets forms covalent bonds to the target surface (both hard and fabric surfaces). Its unique disruptive nanotechnology based action can be likened to millions of spikes that attract and kill pathogens.

Zoono does not kill by toxicity or poisoning. The organisms cannot adapt to it = No mutation = No superbugs. The result is an antimicrobial that cannot diminish in strength, cannot leave the surface to which it is applied and cannot encourage the organisms that it targets to become used to it.

Zoono Z71 - Evolution

Zoono (also called Zoono Microbe Shield or Zoono Z-71) is a unique antimicrobial product derived from technology originally developed by German scientists during the 1930’s. The active ingredient was initially developed to control the spread of microbial infections and prevent algal growth and until the end of World War 2. “This cutting edge technologywas literally a secret”.

After its incorporation in 2009, Zoono Group Limited identified other fields where Z71 could be eective.

However, the base technology still had several inherent problems including a methanol stabilising agent, short shelf life and the reduction of ecacy outside a relatively small temperature window.

The technology was re-engineered by chemists and scientists in California and New Zealand. As a result, Zoono products now have a shelf life of up to 3 years. In addition, sanitisation methods maintain ecacy over a wide temperature range. To top it all, Zoono products are now water based, so they meet the stringent food safety legislation of national government agencies.

Today Zoono Z71 is the 9th generation of the original Zoono® technology and provides antibacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-algae protection of a broad-spectrum antimicrobial sanitiser that continuously kills for up to 30 days.

Zoono is 100% safe to use around people, pets and plants alike.

Zoono in India

What is ATP?

ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is present in all organic material and is the universal unit of energy used in all living cells. ATP is produced and/or broken down in metabolic processes in all living systems. A typical luminometer uses bioluminescence to detect residual ATP as an indicator of surface cleanliness.

How is ATP detected by the ATP device?

Snap swabs are moistened with a buer that aids in the removal of any biological material (ATP) on either wet or dry surfaces, while also penetrating through any biofilm to expose underlying cells. The ATP from microbiological cells, in addition to free ATP from any food residue, is collected from the sample surface with the swab, and is then available to react with the unique liquid-stable reagent contained in the device. This reagent is derived from a naturally-occurring enzyme (called luciferase) found in fireflies. When this enzyme reacts with ATP on the swab, a low-level of light is produced that can be detected and quantified by the luminometer. The amount of light detected is directly proportional to the amount of ATP on the sample, thus giving a quantitative measure of the cleanliness of the surface where the sample was taken.

What does the number result on the luminometer mean?

The luminometer displays results in RLU (Relative Light Unit) values. The light produced from the reaction between ATP and the enzyme in the snap device reagent is emitted in the form of photons. The luminometer detects these photons, quantifies them, and displays them as an RLU value. This RLU value and the ATP on a surface are in a 1:1 ratio. Therefore, more ATP present on a surface means more light is emitted in the snap reaction, giving a greater RLU number detected by the luminometer. The accepted scale adopted for use in food / beverage processing environments, is shown (below) and a typical ATP device (and the testing process), is shown (below).
