What is a Personification?

The definition of personification is when you

give an animal or object qualities or abilities

that only a human can have. This creative

literary tool adds interest and fun to poems

or stories. Personification is what writers use

to bring non-human things to life.

Fortnite wrestled the book out of

my hands.

Where Fortnite is a personification.

Earth-treading stars that make the

dark heaven light.

- Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare

The wind growled at me.

Personified: the wind

Lightning danced across the sky.

Where lightning is a personification.

The wind howled in the night.

Where the wind is a personification.

The Bitmoji Classroom is here to stay.

Use Seesaw’s QR code function with our

downloadable phonics sound chart. Perfect

for parents and students who need correct

pronunciation.

Copy a jpeg into a Google slide and ask

students to illustrate the personification on

Seesaw or continue the paragraph. Ask

students to write their own technology

personification examples.
